I am officially of the opinion that this hospital must be paying the local ambulance service some money under the table, because as of today, I no longer believe the accepted assertion that Regional One is inferior to Methodist University Hospital. Let me explain. My step-mother was here not too long ago with a heart problem. She was treated and released with no new diagnosis. Fast forward to a couple days ago. My step-mother goes to Regional One because she fell out of bed and has a heart attack because of the amount of pain she's in. They examine her and find out a couple of stents that were put in SIXTEEN YEARS AGO had slipped out of position an unknown amount of time ago and were never checked until now. It was these that caused her most recent heart attack, and probably a majority of the problems before this. If you ever have reason to go to the hospital, demand that the ambulance takes you to Regional One. My step-mother has had nothing but the highest of praise for the care she has received at Regional One, and this is a 79-year-old woman who is notoriously hard to please. If the ambulance refuses to take you to Regional One, start getting insistent. Go up the chain of command until you find someone who'll do it or who'll make the driver do it. Methodist University is a bad hospital with a worse ER, especially in terms of wait times, and I really think someone at one of our local news teams should investigate whether Methodist University is paying the ambulance services to direct patients to them. It's the only thing that makes sense.
This is the absolutely worst hospital and emergency room to in Memphis Tennessee area..They move as if they’re task is to keep the patients waiting 12 hrs or more with not a care or remorse at all. My Grandmother also died at this hospital a few months ago she waited 12 hrs in the er was admitted with Covid and passed away here a few months later the staff was unprofessional and not caring at all.. This Er needs to be knocked down and replaced this hospital is basically to take our population away quicker. We aren’t waiting for rooms to be seen for 12/13 hrs for nothing.. Do not go there please!!
My husband has had a kidney transplant, open-heart valve replacement surgery, and one old nonfunctioning kidney removed there. The doctors, nurses, aides, even the housekeeping staff were wonderful. During the total of 18 days that we were there, they were concerned about my welfare also, by asking regularly if I needed anything or if I wanted a tray when he received his meals. That means a lot when you're basically helpless in a different city under those circumstances. We have two friends that asked to be sent to doctors there for their surgeries, and they also had better care than they would have gotten locally.
*Emergency room* Night crew is incredibly neglectful, no clear communication. No sense of urgency. Charts from morning to night shift lacked clarity and we're not effectively communicated. Chairs and waiting area designed to be inhumane to homeless seeking care. Avoid if possible.
I wouldn’t recommend a dog to this place unless it’s Trauma and probably not even that!!! The staff was so rude with my grandfather !!! I called the front desk from the room multiple of times for my grandfather to get a cup of water due to his dehydration !!! Kept getting the run around !!! 1 hour turned into 3 too check blood levels and when the rude nurse came in to transport him to get his CT she slammed the stretcher on the wall and the door !!! She had a very nasty ugly attitude!!! When he came back once they started his fluids I asked if he could still get a cup of water she said he just started his fluids and when I asked could I have some she had the nerve to say if you ask nicely like I’m a kid !!! I went off as anyone would have !!! I would never come here for anything the only positive thing I can say is when you walk in the security was very nice and professional !!! Everyone else straight trash once I get the nurse name I will definitely update this post!!!
Whatever you do DON’T use this hospital for an emergency. They are totally incompetent and you will be seen by a nurse barely armed with the medical knowledge of even that of a MA. You will not see a doctor. The waiting room has multiple TVs blaring on max volume - which isn’t fun when you’re vomiting with nausea. When asked to please turn the TV down they said they lost the remote controls. Also the waiting room had bloody bandages on the floor. It was absolutely unsanitary and disgusting. Once you get to a “room” you’ll find it’s no room at all but rather a very uncomfortable stretcher with a curtain. But seriously the lack of basic knowledge of the nurse practitioners they hire will put you in harms way for sure.
This is worst place ever. My sister was admitted there on august 5, 2023. They did not give her a bath for 3 day. The doctor and nurses could not answer any questions that we need answering. Then she was move to the 8th floor her nurse was very rude and unconcerned. I requested for her to discharge on august 9. Because they did not like the fact that I was asking questions about her care they decided to discharge her on same day which was august 8. Not only that she was to have a precision Done I spoke with her suppose be doctor and told her that we had decided not to go through with it. I get to room she is having precision done. then the nurse stated that she needed to have oxygen to travel 2 hr away. This is at 5pm she stated the hospital didn’t have oxygen tank just lying around to give to discharge patients. We was told they call an agency to bring one we waited and waited no help.
I went in on a Thursday for an upper lower GI. My husband had to rush me to another hospital due to muscle spasms. I could not breath they were Excruciating it took them to put me back to sleep to give me a catscan I could not sit or lay down at all . I believe they sent me home before making sure I was OK. It is now Monday and I'm still having problems breathing can not pass air like I should be . And the pain is unreal I don't wish this on any human . . Stop using a horse tranquillizer to put people to sleep . . I pray to God I never have go back to that hospital
This hospital is atrocious. They spent all this money on this big renovation yet still take 18+ hours to see patients. The wait time can be longer than a day. I was assaulted by a patient here once as well. They freeze you while making you wait for hours then refuse to give you a blanket. The girl behind the desk acts like she is slow. Every time I've had to come here for whatever reason, has been a HORRIBLE experience.
Went in for a fall with a head injury. I waited for 5 hours. I asked at check in if I needed to provide insurance but was told not right now. Once I had waited several hours and gotten a CT scan, I got a visit from a lady who told me that my Blue cross blue shield insurance was not in network for this hospital. She wanted me to immediately pay $200 for my visit. I have a HSA card for these expenses but I wish I'd been told before waiting so long that they don't take my insurance that is the one of the largest insurers in the area. I would have gone to another hospital.
