My husband went in to get evaluated to be on the kidney list for transplants the doctor saw him for about 5-10 minutes and barely asked any questions trying to rush out the door. only to then tell him two weeks later that he isn’t a candidate for a kidney transplant. The crazy thing is that no one contacted him to discuss this we had to call and find out what was going on and what the next step was. When I did speak with the coordinator she stated that my husband should had known this. This is just ridiculous. No test/ labs were ever taken to make this kind of decision. Customer service not great. Do better these are peoples lives.
Hello, We’ve been dealing with Jackson hospital for 6 months now. My mom got a kidney transplant on 12/12/2022 and the whole experience has been terrible. They’ve given her medications while she was admitted that had been discontinued previously. We have never received an updated medication list as promised by the pharmacist that called me before she was released after the transplant. I can list many more times where the ball has been dropped by JMH. It’s very difficult to get through to a coordinator. You usually have to wait more than 24 hours to receive an answer and when you do it’s never a complete answer. The most recent situation is that my mom was scheduled for an outpatient procedure this Friday, June 23. Today, June 22, Bertha calls to confirm my mom’s appointment and she asks if she’s currently on aspirin, which she is. Then, they tell me that she should have stopped the aspirin 3 days prior to procedure. I asked why no one ever informed the patient of this. The response was that the patient should have known this since she’s had other procedures done since she’s a transplant patient. They also told me that it wasn’t a problem, that we can just reschedule. It is a problem, everyone involved works and has to adjust their schedules accordingly. Honestly, I had a better image of JMH before. I am very dissapointed with the overall treatment we’ve experienced at JMH. Eric Lopez Sent from my iPhone
All of the professional staff are outstanding: very professional, very kind and totally compassionate. A+ faculty and staff. However, many patients in the waiting area lack the social skills and the Transplant Center does nothing. Namely, while people are waiting for their appointments in the waiting area certain pairings wait while their phones scream loud videos, music or conversations on their phone speakers incredibly loud and inconsiderate of other patients waiting who can only cringe and cover their ears. The waiting area attendants show no interest whatsoever in calling the waiting room to order. No signs are posted about waiting area decorum nor are any reprimands raised by the staff for the loud distractions. This lack of consideration for other waiting patients cringing away from the inconsiderate loud music, videos and phone calls leaves other respectful patients deciding whether the pain in the waiting area is worth the wonderful service on the inside. Very sad.
I hate this place the case manager put me on Hold in the transplant list because I passed with the psychiatrist and I open my heart I said “ I am in my low season and I am worry about my bills , than case manager put me in Hold in the transplant list to verify my income… I have Medicare I have a business, was supposed I be relax because I share my worries with a doctor and what happen they caused me more stress and angry because it’s very clear to me that they are more worried about the money……THE HEALTH SYSTEM IN FLORIDA IS NASTY, BAD. CUSTOMER SERVICE NO PROFESSIONALISM WRONG RESULTS JUST WANT YOUR MONEY ALL THIS BECAUSE I HAVE HUMANA AND AMBETTER 2 TYPES OF INSURANCE TO COVER THE TRANSPLANT AND TO COVER MY SPECIALISTS. IN ANOTHER STATES WE HAVE BETTER HEALTH SYSTEM
I have called the office multiple times with the same issue and it does not get solved. Today I spoke to Ifmara and I asked her to speak with a supervisor and she said that the supervisor does not want to talk to me and she hung up the phone on me. This office is a joke.
Kidney transplant: The sugeon who selects and performs the surgery Dr. Figueiro. The team that focus on the progression of the new kidney and correcting the concerns. The physcians e.g in the plasmapharesis department who visits the patient daily to update the patient with a smile and excellent bedside manners Dr. Krupin. The nurses who think outside the box so as to to decrease excessive medication intake and not just be medication administration robots Odalys Gonzalez. Thank you for giving patients a second realm on life. I thank you Jackson.
Saved my life. Amazing dedication and tireless team. Enthusiastic Grateful. God bless them. #livertransplantsuccess
One day I’d love to write an incredible review. I may not live to see that day. Over a year of being a pre-transplant patient I’ve been met with one disappointment after another. Perfunctory would be a kind way to describe my doctor, but apathetically negligent would be most accurate. Just out of the ER now after a 4th week of reporting my alarming new and worsening symptoms due to medication mismanagement. I have better chances of seeing a unicorn than my own doctor and even then he is ill prepared and it’s obvious all the tests I take between follow ups aren’t even glanced at. There is no oversight nor way to file complaints. It’s at such a level of gross negligence that I’m surprised they could ever have earned status as a “center of excellence”. Great example: Angela K, the MTI nurse manager, has been gone for several months and most employees were entirely unaware suggesting all concerns be directed to her though they can’t provide any contact info for her. I expect nothing less than the same generic response sent to everyone else here. Sad not just for me, but for all their patients especially the ones who don’t realize they are frequently wronged- something doctors will never admit there. They all cover for each other and none of their staff will voice the wrongs they see doctors do out of fear of repercussion. ****UPDATE****** I did receive a call from what I believe is the “uh oh” department of “that review doesn’t look so good for us.” A kind lady from customer service called to better understand the nature of my concerns and guaranteed me that while she’s e could NOT provide me with anyway to reach her again always a huge red flag as it’s the only response I’ve ever received and they never follow up that I could rest assured a call back would come within 24 hours. That was a week ago. At least MTI is consistent; consistently disappointing!!!
My experience at MTI was amazing! The doctors are knowledgeable and caring. My nurse coordinator, Magaly Martial, is extraordinary. She is always helpful and friendly. I feel blessed I had the team at MTI take care of me while I had Covid from June 2022 through mid July 2022. I am a kidney transplant patient and I’m doing well. Thank you to all the amazing individuals that work at the Miami Transplant Institute!!!
Great facility for my transplant operation and immediate post operation support. After the initial 3 months following my operation my experience has been terrible and getting worse. The nurse coordinator function is clearly broken with no effective communication with post transplant patients. I still have not received any results from my tacrolimus/ everilimus retest 10 days ago despite calling at least 5 times in the last 5 days. Blanca is my coordinator who has has been non responsive for nearly two years. Very frustrating!
