I had an amazing time here with my husband. If you love tanks, helicopters, history in the military, this is the place for you. They had a lot of history on many wars and many different outfits that were worn. They even have places where you can see what the living quarters look like, as well as the bathroom.
This museum is a must see! The exhibits were wonderful in describing Minnesota military history! The tanks and planes outside were really cool and there were opportunities to get up on some of the tanks which is great for families with kids . Overall, if you like history and are interested in military history, I highly recommend a visit!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
This museum is on a military base, so have your ID ready to gain entrance. Lots of great info and you can spend hours looking through the exhibits and crawling around vehicles.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$1–5
I truly enjoyed seeing all the memorabilia, rifles, clothes/uniforms, everything military from Minnesota's past. It's well displayed and fun to experience. You can even sit on some of the World War II tanks.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Well worth a visit. There is a lot to see indoors and in the outdoor displays. C-130 flying overhead was a nice bonus!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Stopped in while on vacation recently. If you are a fan of military history you'll really appreciate the visit here. It will be really something when they move into a new, larger, venue just outside the Post gates. But what they had displayed, indoors and outdoors, was very well done. Tons of information to see and read, but nicely displayed in a chronological order. HIGHLY recommend for anyone. Seems very family friendly, too.
Definitely worth the trip...much better than I expected! The outdoor buildings were closed for the winter I'm guessing, so we only visited the main center and outside displays. It was cold and windy and I'm from Arkansas so I didn't spend a ton of time outdoors... The inside is sort of layed-out in a chronological order beginning near the Civil War time period and "ending" near the Desert Shield/Storm era. There's a fairly large section dedicated to the National Guard. There's LOTS of written historical information available, plus uniformed mannequins for a good visual representation of the appropriate times. There are weapons o' plenty from virtually every era. There's uniforms with an impressive collection of helmets as well. Outside, there's a nice row of tanks as well as howitzers, transport vehicles, a few helicopters and other vehicles. You can climb on several of them for a hands-on experience and photos! The museum has plans for a massive expansion in the next few years and I definitely look forward to that...but is quite the gem as-is!
This was great fun and educational. Enjoy see all the military vehicles on the lawn. Seeing Minnesota military uniforms through the years and how my state was involved in all kinds of history. Be sure to bring ID to get on the the base.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Very informative museum. Compact, but will probably take you a couple hours to look around. They are expanding it to 8 times it's current size over the next few years. Google took us to the wrong entrance. Remember to bring ID for everyone in your vehicle. It is an active military base, so you will be asked for it at the gate.
Seriously can not say enough good things about this place! My wife brought me here for a surprise Father's day visit and I was so impressed with their exhibits, staff and overall collection of vehicles, aircraft, arms etc. As a former Marine and enthusiast of history, this place could not have been a better choice to visit. They did a great job with their small arms displays as well as the countless armored vehicles and tanks. We were allowed to sit in the Huey and climb on and around many of the other vehicles as well. My family had a blast and I highly recommend this museum to anyone who like military history. It's the best!
