Description

Founded in 1964, Montessori School of Waukesha is the oldest and largest Montessori school in Waukesha County. Over the years, the school has built a solid reputation of excellence in the field of early childhood, elementary and adolescent education.

Montessori School of Waukesha was founded by community members in 1964 after identifying a need for education incorporating the Montessori philosophy.

The school began in the basement of a medical center and in 1969, moved to its present location. In 1988, a group of parents requested the addition of an elementary school. First grade began that fall in rented space. In 1990, a 6,000 square-foot addition was built and the elementary classes, grades one through three, were moved into the newly expanded school.

As interest in the elementary program grew, the Board of Directors voted to add a fourth grade class in 1992, with the goal to offer grades one through six by 1994. The offerings continued to expand, and Montessori School of Waukesha graduated its first eighth grade class in 2005. The school continues to provide a challenging curriculum in a joyful, secure environment through eighth grade.

Montessori School of Waukesha offers a full range of programs for children ages 20 months to 8th grade grouped according to children's developmental phase.

Pre-Children's House: Ages 20 months - 3 years

Children's House: Ages 3-6 years*

Lower Elementary: Grades 1-3**

Upper Elementary: Grades 4-6

Middle School: Grades 7&8

Before and after school care is available from 7:00 am to 5:45 pm.

*Montessori School of Waukesha is a 4K community partner with the School District of Waukesha and School District of Kettle Moraine.

**District sponsored enrolment through the School District of Waukesha is available for grades 5K-Grade 2.
