Super cool experience on a mini plane. Clean bathroom, quick transit, friendly and helpful ground crew. They even offer complimentary bottled water after the security check!
TLDR version: airport is decent. Staff is pleasant. Airline is inefficient. Ensure ample layover time, prepare for lengthy delays. Staff is friendly. TSA was so quick. Building is decent. Seating is not the most comfortable. The pilots are excellent and friendly. My first time flying on the 8 seat plane was terrifying, but I got used to the turbulence by my second flight. The only negative is southern airways express. My departing flight was delayed by over 3 hours. Nearly every half hour they would delay it another half hour. This wouldn't be a problem if it didn't cause me to miss a connecting flight. I ended up having to spend an extra $430 to get to my final destination. When calling the customer service number they were extremely rude and unhelpful, they ultimately hung up on me. If the flights were consistently on time I would definitely recommend traveling to and from MGW. It is so convenient to take a 25 min flight to PIT. Unfortunately, the airline they have partnered with leaves too much to be desired. I am only giving 4 stars because this is meant to be a review of the airport itself, not the airline. The airline would be a 2 star review, the only saving grace being the friendly staff and pilots who have no control over the situation/ compensation for travelers. The reason for delay in my case was a broken down plane, they had to "test" and fly in a new plane. The airline needs to be prepared for these situations and not make their customers wait this long. The airline should probably invest in some newer planes and definitely hire better representatives for their customer service phone line. I'm sorry for the novel, but I hope this can help fellow travelers avoid the same situation.
Great experience for Balloons Over Morgantown!
Down-home, and growing! GA is coming alive again and the airport management seems ready to build GA and other opportunities at the airfield. But while an extension is underway, and an industrial park seems to be coming, keeping line crews appears to be a challenge! The grounds are not being mowed, The bathrooms, while clean, are not being regularly cleaned and stocked. It is difficult to find and keep good workers especially who can pass federal random drug testing, but it can be accomplished in an environment where workers are appreciated and compensated well. I hope the management finds ways to continue good growth and to encourage a welcoming, well-served airport.
Best little airport for cheap, quick flights to DC and Pittsburgh. Parking is free and short lines to get through TSA.
The best airport in Morgantown!! Love the Greek food
I’ve had multiple trips from there and I’ll say this, other than getting to Pitt faster there are no other positive takeaways. Flight cancellations within minutes of take off. And most recently my babe has been lost. It didn’t even make it out of the airport. Very disappointed. Rather take a bus than fly from here.
It was a great experience with a good pilot. Some clouds and turbulence but was handled fine, and took off/landed right on time.
Morgantown airport had VERY easy parking, the workers were very friendly and wore masks! The TSA was VERY thorough! Easiest place I have EVER flown out of! I wish I could review just how great the pilots were and the plane trip!
The worst customer service ever. They delay and change flights 10 hours in advance solely for their own benefits. If you have a connecting flight from Pittsburgh then make sure and leave 4-5 hours in between for the delays/changes Morgantown will do for no reason. You will have a flight departure at 5:10 am and the first time pilot will be out putting around in the single propelled plane trying to get a feel for it before you board finally at 6:00 am. 3 out of 4 times I have used this airport they have messed something up. Will not ever use them again, driving to Pittsburgh is much quicker and less hassle.
