Pre-planning was definitely a great decision. We were able to mourn our loved one, without the added stress of trying to plan a funeral during a difficult time of loss. Many thanks, to the people at Mount Auburn. You are greatly appreciated!
It was an unforeseen and unacceptable surprise to a family and friends at a time of sadness and sorrow of losing a love one. We were not notified until the hearse arrived at cemetery that the vault, we ordered the week before did not arrive at the cemetery. We had wait for someone from the cemetery office to come and explain what happened. The cemetery office explanation was to blame the vault company for not delivering on time instead of reflecting on their own policy of having vaults delivered two hours prior to burial. The burial was put on hold without a true time of arrival of the vault. Imagine the family and everyone attending the burial service waiting with unknown ETA on 90-degree day under the sun. The family was forced to conduct a mock burial and the deceased casket sat in the sun for 3 hours before finally buried. Nothing is going to change our memory of this terrible experience, but the cemetery leadership have the power to change the future so this doesn't happen to other families. They need to reexamine their policy and practice and make this world a better place then they found it.
Highly recommend. They go above and beyond and treat you like family. I wouldn’t consider going anywhere else.
Mount Auburn Cemetary, provided great and dignified services for my father at the time when our lives were upside down. James Vanecko the funeral director. was such a blessing and put us at ease. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking and needing services for their loved ones.
The architecture design is beautiful. The staff is amazing, helpful and thoughtful during a very difficult time. There was no pressure on picking a package. I liked that there is only one viewing at a time and there is plenty of room for social distancing. There is also a downstairs area for coffee and food. That is important when your family has to be there all day and not have to go out to eat. Very good staff. I highly recommend.
We had a service here 2 weeks ago for my grandfather and had spent hours the week before picking out arrangements, including paying a large amount for food and getting a headcount from loved ones so we ordered the right amount. It was important to our family that guests did not go hungry during a long service. The day of the service, the food never comes. When we asked the staff about it, they pretended that we had never ordered food and didn't even apologize. They said that we did not have a food order in the contract, yet they did not even have a copy of the contract on site. Since there was not even water for the guests, myself and other family members had to run out to buy water bottles and granola bars in the middle of the service. This is not what grieving family members should have to do and the guests who had been there all day were expecting food. After the service, they finally did admit that we had in fact paid for food because we showed them our copy of the contract. We did not appreciate people insinuating that we were liars and having such a sensitive and important moment tarnished by this large inconvenience. This caused additional hardship for an already difficult moment.
Our funeral director was Carmen Perez. We highly recommend her; she took the time to explain each step and was there for us throughout the entire process. She went above and beyond her duties to make this process easier for us. We will most certainly will go back to her when we ever face a lost again.
Terrible Experience! As a family, we visit my brother every year on the day of his passing. This year we once again came to visit to find out we had 1 hour to visit since they now close at 5pm. We were unaware that cemetery is now gated and closes at 5pm. I asked staff if there was a notice sent out to notify families, his response was"we don't have to notify you". I explained I work 9-5 and his response was "do you work 7 days a week?" I couldn't believe such response. We were there 30 minutes and a van pulled up and it was staff from Mt.Auburn who stated we had to keep our children from running around since this is not a park. At 4:45 Police began to escort people out of the cemetery as the gates close at 5pm. I will not recommend this place to anyone. Take your family to a place that is compassionate and caring. This is Unacceptable
We would like to thank Aaron and his manager at Mount Auburn for assisting us putting in a vase for our parents memorial site. They were very helpful and thorough thru out the process.
We have a big family and have several family members that we have laid to rest here. Every year this cemetery has more, and more stipulations. This year they started closing earlier you have to exit the premises by 5pm. This year we came to visit my brothers grave like we have for the last 18 years and our kids that range from ages from 1-10 had a ball, they pulled it out and began tossing it. A representative of Mt. Auburn Cemetery that identified himself as Aaron approached our family at the grave site & asked that the children to “STOP” playing with the ball because it was disrespectful to the deceased. His approach was rude, this children are small we had not been here for not even an hour. I don’t understand what has changed if there is new management. However if you have a big family with children this is not a family friendly cemetery any longer. My brother had previously visited the office to inquire why they visiting hours had changed, A representative by the name of Dennis replied to my brother in a very sarcastic “do you work 7 days a week”. He then went about how visitors were having loud music and games at the cemetery and that’s why they change the hours. How sad that we have to look for other options for the future, these people do not appreciate your money. This place is not what it used to be.
