Great spot to enjoy some naengmyun, refreshing potato-based noodles in a cold broth. They have affordable prices and since it's a self-service restaurant, no tipping is required! We also enjoyed the galbi, but their specialty is definitely the noodles. One can also enjoy some hot broth which is served beside the water. The food comes out fast and is a great choice on a warm day!
HIDDEN GEM! This place is so good!! FYI, it's a self serve restaurant so you order and pay at cashier and they will call for your ticket when food is ready. The best part is NO TIPPING! It's a great business model for today's economy. My spicy galbi tang was super good. 4 thick chunky delicious pieces of galbi tang. It's thicker in person than my photos can capture. Each piece has the right amount of marbling that gives a delicious texture and mouth full of juicy meat. It comes with thin glass noodles and thick chunks of daikon. The seafood pancake is a MUST order. It's so thick, crispy and have large chunks of octopus. It's such a satisfying meal. The spicy pork with cabbage bimbimbap was delicious too. They have free self serve milk-like soup and it hits the spot on a winter rainy night. I'll definitely come back.
I love self-service restaurants. I like shuttling my own food from a counter because it means I can eat at my own pace. I especially love not having to worry about calculating a tip at the end of the meal. At Kim Ga Meon Ok, they've upped the self-serve model. You place your order at a counter and wait until your number appears in the electronic display above the kitchen. In the meantime, you're free to collect your water hot or cold, silverware, and - best of all - unlimited servings of savory beef broth that arguably make the wait well worth it. I ordered the hot stone bibimbap - mixed rice with some meat and veggies - which created a respectable layer of burnt rice along the sides as it sat in the screaming hot pot. Another person in our party ordered the jeyuk dolsot bibimbap, which we thought would be another bibimbap dish with spicy pork as the protein; instead, it turned out to be just meat and rice in a hot stone pot. Each of our entrees came on a tray with some kimchi and soup on the side. The soup apparently changes regularly - this time, it was a seaweed soup. The last thing we ordered was a seafood pancake. It was much smaller than we expected, and I was prepared to disappointedly dock them a star for the smaller sized portion, but I was surprised. This pancake might be smaller, but it's PACKED with seafood, so much that there were shrimp and squid pieces tumbling out with every bite. The service, too, surprised us. Even though we hadn't said a word, they apologized for the smaller-than-usual serving and gave us another seafood pancake. For free. Free food always makes me happy, but food that's free AND this good? I was sold solid. One last thing to consider is parking. There's no two ways about it - it's rough. There are a few street parking spots available in the adjacent streets, but once those are taken, you'll be circling 'round the blocks quite a bit. We ourselves ended up playing our chances with the nearby Shop Rite parking lot and felt hugely relieved our car wasn't towed upon our return. I felt it was worth the gamble since we ended up enjoying our meal quite a bit, but you can decide whether it's worth the risk.
The price was not bad for 7 fried shrimp and fries $9.95. Ordering was difficult because the lady working did not understand English. Did not even inderstand me asking for an item from the menu. She brought out mustered when I asked for sault. When she finally brought out the salt it was in a cup. I ended up pooring way too much on my fries. The music is nice. Atmosphere is great. There is no table service. Giving 5 stars because nothing majorly bad.
Food was great especially for the price, bang for buck, worth every penny. Milk naeng myun combo with pork is a great deal, also the pork was tender and well seasoned. Gukbap had lots of depth to the flavors and a nice kick to it. Cafeteria styled casual spot for good and well priced food. Parking: A couple 2-3? spots designated, but wasn’t hard to find street parking. However I could see it greeting difficult if king spa is busy
Loved this spot. Just what I needed pre-Kings Spa. Very respectful place; everyone was well-mannered and I was even able to get some work done on my laptop while waiting for my order to be ready. The scallion seafood pancake was *chef's kiss* That alone was enough to feed me and my sister LOL. Paired with some bubble tea from Kudo Society and we were full as can be hahah Next time I'll have to try their bulgogi. It's a staple after all.
Went to check out this new restaurant near King Sauna. When we walked in we were confused when the owner asked us what we wanted to order at the front desk. We told him we wanted to stay and eat, not order "to go." We were seated but we then realized that here they have you order first, pay, then get seated. The owner said it's "self serve" but they brought us all our utensils, the side dishes and bottled spring water. The food took longer than we expected, probably because they just opened 8 days ago. Everyone was asking about their cold noodles but they told us that the noodle machine had not arrived yet so that was not available yet. We ordered some other items instead. The seafood pancake was huge and thicc! It had a nice crispy crust and soft inside with plenty of octopus. We couldn't finish and ended up taking the rest home. The donkatsu was ok. It was flatter and harder than what I am used to. The little side pasta salad and cabbage that came with it was better imo. The LA kalbi was flavorful but kind of chewy. I liked the hot stone pot bibimbap but we had to wait while we tried to get someone to give us some red pepper sauce because they forgot. We want to go back when they work out the kinks and when they do have the available. Give this restaurant a visit! Prices are 20% cheaper for the month of October and you don't have to worry about tip!
Still my favorite nengmyun spot in the area. Order and self serve. Get the hot broth to eat with your noodles. I also get their handmade dumplings and mung bean pancake. Super filling along with nengmyun! Parking is tricky but you can find more closer to Shop Rite area and walk.Food: 5/5
Reasonably priced, clean place, and nicely portioned dishes. Col noodles were delicious and spicy. Would recommend. Finding a parking spot near could be challenging.
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical when my mom suggested this restaurant for lunch. She didn’t do a great job of explaining the concept but I really enjoyed our lunch here! My mom got the and I got . Very tasty and portions are good. Don’t skip the complimentary bone broth to sip!
