I am a man that hates shopping. At the same time,  buying gift cards for my girlfriend's birthday is lame. I figured the staff in Santa Monica clothing store would be helpful. I was wrong.  They didn't acknowledge my presence and made half assed recommendations. The girl had a very bad attitude as if she didn't care she was at work that day. As she walked with me taking clothes from the rack and saying, "This looks good," she keep up what appeared to be a pressing text conversation with someone she was angry with. Poor customer service to say the least.  Also, the reviews are correct about seeing into the dressing rooms. Definitely need to be fixed.

My rating reflects the costumer service at this location and not the clothing itself.  I've been a fan of Necessary since I lived in NY and after finding out they opened up a store in Santa Monica I was thrilled.  Unfortunately the experience was so disheartening and really upset me.  The store looked beautiful but there were no sales associates to be seen.  I walked around for a bit until seeing one behind the sales counter.   I had a question about an item.  She was texting on her phone and didn't notice I was standing there.  I stood there for awhile and she didnt even look up.  When I asked her excuse me she acted almost as if I was bothering her and gave me a very short answer to my question with no help at all actually.  The fitting room girls were okay.  They weren't exactly friendly either and seemed almost bored or tired.  They were complaining about the music and how they couldn't wait for their manager to leave.  Overall I tried on the outfits in store but ended up buying online because why bother.

I was one of the excited peeps when this store opened. I later learned that this was a boutique that started in New York which made me even more excited. The pieces of clothing are really good. Til thought the clothes were a lot cheaper though within the first week it opened.  The store is beautiful. It replaced Nasty Gal - fashion wise, not much has changed. They offer boho chic, festival-esque, loud style - all of which I embrace. I really want to try them on but their dressing rooms make me soooo uncomfortable. I tried using it twice, both times I asked the staff if it was actually see through and both times they assured me it's not. The second time I realized it totally is see through. I can see someone inside changing. It is dark and is see through. Terrible.  I enjoy solo shopping so I appreciate when the staff don't come ask me if I'm okay every two seconds but at the same time I'm used to the courtesy I'm boutiques on third street. I expect to at least be greeted. None of which I get when I come in here. I mean I'm here for the clothes but maybe let's brush up the customer service a tad bit. Also when I ask questions about a piece of clothing or about the store, I'm answered by short abrupt words as if they did not want to be disturbed during their work hours.

Don't go into the dressing rooms to try on clothing that you may potentially buy. People outside of the dressing room are able to see you changing. THE DOOR IS SEE-THROUGH. The shop owner claims to have nothing to do with this issue and blames it on the previous store owner. This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. Something needs to change, otherwise I advise you not to shop here and support the owner's bad behavior.

So let me start by saying I shop at this store a lot and have always had a wonderful experience with the girls who work there. Tonight was a different story, hence the 1 star. But I am giving this 1 star to one girl in particular. Her name is Tyrie. First of all she was dressed completely innapropriately for work, I didn’t even realize she worked there at first. She was leaning up against a dressing room, texting on her phone, and wearing a tiny crop top and low rise shorts so her entire stomach was showing ... fine for street wear but disgusting for work. And then at 8:15pm all promenade stores close at 9pm she tells 5 of us girls that we are not allowed to try on clothes because they are closing in 20 minutes. She was RUDE and disrespectful and kept cutting me off so i couldn’t even get a word in edgewise. Then she pretends to call her manager to prove herself right and when i asked to speak with her she said “oh she hung up”. Thankfully, Sam saved the day. He was very sweet and actually has customer service skills. He told all of us to go ahead and try on our clothes and that is the only reason i made a purchase that evening. The store was busy the rest of the night and the store would have missed out on a lot of sales due to Tyrie if Sam hadn’t helped us out. She even told us to go ahead and try to get her fired because she’s already leaving...not sure if that is true but I need a manager at this store to read this review because it was THE WORST experience i have ever had at any retailer and the worst customer service. I will continue to shop at this store as long as I never have to see or deal with Tyrie ever again. She is a horrible employee and has absolutely NO customer service skills.  Everyone else i have met there is great and I hope to give a new rating next time. Just please make sure to screen your candidates better before hiring them. THANK YOU!!

The customer service is amazing! I bought my little sister a sweater from this store and I love all the different types of pieces they offer! Great store, great prices! This is a place to go for all types of women out there and I totally appreciate this store!

Do you guys at least check your staff's skills before hiring them? Every single time I came to this store, the people working there are not helpful and the check out takes forever! Better buying online

Its a really great shop and the employees are friendly plus they have the cutest outfits !!

Great little shop for hip fashions and chic clothing....they have a great sale going on right now, too bad they're going out of business!!!
