Unfortunately, my mother passed a month and a few days ago. I’m not from here so I don’t know really who to go to for burial services. My father and I sat down with Terry the director of the funeral services. We expressed our wants and needs. I was supposed to receive my mother’s “obituary” the day of her memorial. I did not receive this until a few days after. I had family and friends visit from out of state. They were requesting the obituary for a work excuse. Unfortunately, the name was completely incorrect. I then called back by this time I was supposed to receive her remains from the crematory. I have not received the corrected obituary, death certificate, insurance filed info, and urns. I’m extremely disappointed and will not use for future services. The worse part about this process was them bringing my mother to crematorium without notification. Which I requested and was reassured this would happen.
Big Thank you and thumbs up to Nelms Memorial Funeral Home Staff for the wonderful job you all did in preparing our love one Mrs. Doris Rich for her homegoing service. We thank you for the kindness and compassion that was shown to The Rich and Horton Families in our time of bereavement. May God continue to bless each of you.
Very unprofessional! Messed up my grandmother's obituary after it had already been prewritten for them. Someone took it upon themselves to add words to it that weren't correct. They messed up her name implying that she was married and had the time for viewing the body wrong which caused people to call the family repeatedly to ask if the time had been changed. I feel like they did a rushed job and did not give my grandmother the respect that was due for the preparation of her family viewing her one last time.
My uncle in Huntsville died suddenly and I was left in a position to where I had to deal with it from out of state. They did step in quickly and took care of his remains from the nursing home that he was in. That's why I'm giving them 2 stars. Past that, the customer service was really lacking. My cousin went down there and thought that she had taken care of everything with them. She told me that they have arranged the cremation and that the remains along with copies of his death certificate and a veteran's flag would be mailed to my address, so that I could have him buried in a burial plot that he had pre arranged here in my city. She also told me that they were filing the burial insurance claim and the application for a veteran's headstone. For the next month, I called them frequently and was told, "Those items are being prepared for mailing and will be in route to you shortly." This went on for a month. Until I finally told them that I had to be in Huntsville in two days to meet with the estate lawyer and that I needed the death certificates by then. They finally told me that if I was coming down, I could just pick all of that up. So I guess it was never in the process of mailing. And we paid $85.00 for them to mail everything. I went down there and was given the remains and death certificates, but nothing else. And I found out that the claim and the request for headstone weren't filed. They couldn't print the forms for me to help me fill out, because their printer didn't work. But they would email them. I took care of business and drove all of the way back home and there was no email. So I spent the next day on the phone with them again until they emailed it. They never mailed the flag and I had to file the claim and VA request for headstone myself. I thank them for being the one funeral home that would step in quickly when my uncle died, but past that, I didn't get the service that I think they should have provided.
This is a whale established business. That has served my family since 1979. , and the part that I love most is that Terry and the staff has always had their doors open .To the public and anyone else that needed them. I would not want to be cared for. By anyone else in the community .love this business is if they were family. I think them for all that they have always done....
I've been looking for an obituary to see if and when someone's funeral was going to take place. The funeral was yesterday but you just now posted her obituary and funeral info. Well I'd give this place no stars but since you did post it even though its after the fact I'll be nice.
