We strive to create a living environment that is as close to natural life way of free roaming equines. The horses are constantly moving in a small herd on track which is designed to meet the basic physiological and mental needs to maintain optimum health and well being.
Horses are herd animals and meant to walk all day foraging for food eating small amounts through-out the day.
They play, groom and hang out with each other to develop social skills that help keep harmony in the herd.
Constant movement increases their blood circulation and muscle tone.
Let us share with you how we got involved with paddock paradise and Natural Hoof Care. Like a lot of horses, our horse Levi had foundered severely. Over a year we tried vets and farriers to no avail. Everyone who tried to help Levi had a different opinion and suggestions. Levi was getting worse. A lot of dollars later and after nailing anything imaginable to Levi's hooves, we started searching for alternative methods.
Mike became a certified Natural Hoof Care Practitioner with the AANHCP and Liberated Horsemanship and we created a track for our horses with different feed stations, water holes, run-in and natural shelters.
The horses have access to hay, water and mineral blocks (himalayan salt, Redmond Rock) 27/7. Limited pasture turnouts. They being fed small portions of grain twice daily.
