This museum is very modern and nice! The staff was very friendly and inviting! It’s worth seeing but in my option there should be more historical artifacts and displays. They have music, entertainment, vendors and small bar to purchase drinks etc every 3rd Saturday and entrance is free! I just happen to visit on a 3rd Saturday. Not sure of regular entrance fee. It’s in a residential area but very easy to get to. I highly recommended visiting if in New Orleans.
Moved crossed the street to a building currently for sale. Original build never recovered from hurricane Catrina. Unfortunately, the developing creation may not survive in the future.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$16–20
NOAM depicts specific details of the Black New Orleans experience and history, with a specific focus on the authentic stories of Treme. I particularly enjoyed the interactive Afro futurism exhibit. I’ll definitely be back.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Amazing space full of beautiful art! The current building is under renovations so they are operating out of their admin building. The street is def not drivable so i recommend bussing / streetcar or Uber. So much history & also FUTURE — thanks for the amazing time!
Today I was finally able to visit the NOAAM. To date most exhibits are being housed at the administrative building while more permanent facilities, across the street, are awaiting restoration or construction. There are two outdoor exhibits that can be viewed on the property across the street. The current space is small but is being used to display very impressive and important works by artists across the diaspora. This museum is definitely worth the visit and the nominal entrance fee. I look forward to the completion of the permanent site.
The museum is located in Tréme , which is north of the French Quarter a few blocks from Rampart st..I found the experience enriching to learn about the African American and indigenous people that make New Orleans such a unique city of culture. There is a current exhibit about afro-futurism and the impact it is having in art colloquially and throughout the African & indigenous diaspora. I also enjoyed the walked through the gardens directly across the museum that has a historic house depicting the heroes of Tréme.
Very personable when I entered. There's a gift shop, a few rooms downstairs and there's upstairs as well. Then there's the building across the street with a small outdoor garden.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitPrice for adult entry$21–30
This is an amazing place. Currently the museum is only using one campus. But there's an exhibit there now Paper Monuments. It is great. All the history in New Orleans is there. Well not all the history. But a lot of it. Especially some of the most impactful stuff.
New Orleans has such a rich culture and history, that’s why this place is so disappointing. There is very little to see, and the content is organized in such a way that it’s hard to correlate information to images and follow the historical sequence. The content could also use fresh editing. When I asked the person who worked there about one photo, she had no clue who the woman was. The employee was also dressed in crop top, gym attire. Where’s the professionalism? If they’re going to charge $20, the museum must offer more than what is currently available. If they are going to charge any admission fee, they must do more. The museum is simply below average.
My first time at the museum and it has some educational things in it that every family should go and experience and learn from I will definitely support this museum and spread the word to go and experience what the museum haveVisited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$16–20
