The hiking trails are great and vary in difficult. Very clean and well kept with very low amount of litter. Park Rangers were very friendly. Just recently moved here from Oklahoma and the quality of this park far exceeds most of the ones down there. Will definitely be returning frequently and utilizing the bike trails. The walking bridge across the water was a very nice perk as well.
We went for the Christmas Lights. It was lots of fun for the kids and with Covid being in the car was best for that season. They have lots of display and the ride is very enjoyable. The only thing I wished they had done better was the music. I wished music was linked to the drive. I went to a Christmas Light in Richmond the year before and that made the experience even better. But it is still a nice experience.
We stayed one night on the B loop. Water and electric as well as a fire ring and picnic table were provided and convenient to use. The pad site was relatively level and was asphalt. Road noise wasn't too bad. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we'll definitely stay here again as it is close to Yorktown. Playground: Playground between camp loops B and C looked to be updated with many children running about. Restrooms: The restroom and showers on the B loop was clean. Hot water was delightful. The restroom at the dump station was in need of cleaning and definitely needs to be updated.
My fitness group works out here three times a week. There are always active people around the trails, some with stroller and others with dogs. The sunrises are beautiful over the water and from the bridge. There is a lot of wildlife too! Great place, highly recommend!
Beautiful place to relax!! I love the walking trail and Pinic areas!!! If you LOVE NATURE THIS IS THE PLACE!! They also have multiple parks for the kiddos. Clean refreshing and relaxing!
Fun course with two tee pads and one basket mach5 on each hole. The holes are two thirds in the open field with trees and bushes to navigate. The wooded holes were fun and difficult.
Excellent and massive city park I think I’ve read it’s the largest city run park in the country with lots of trails, disc golf free, you name it. I still have yet to explore the whole place but every time I’m here I explore a new section. I run into very few people on each visit which makes it a great place to get away for some time in nature.
Lots of easy walking trails, beautiful very large over 7000 acres park. Pet friendly. Well maintained, lots of shade & sun. Lots to do including freshwater fishing. Love the gazillions of turtles! Ok, not that many. We will be back to visit again.
Very nice campground. Long sites, but most are very uneven. Lots of trees, a lake, and playgrounds for the kids. Bathhouses are cement, and private. Check in is at 2. Lots of tents here. Spread out...there are Loops A thru D.
Walking the bike trail is probably the best here at Hampton Roads. Great 6 mile loop through nature, including the spooky Crawford Road segment, where you can feel someone watching you although nobody is around. Spotted more than a dozen various types of mushrooms in a single trip in mid August.
