One of the most scenic short hikes you’ll ever experience. I first hiked it 28 years ago and recently visited again. Was it as gorgeous as I remember? Yes, and more! Forest, check. Views, check. Great little beach? Check. Bring a lunch and enjoy the afternoon. And plan ahead to camp in one of the backcountry sites. Restrooms: Super clean! Picnic area: Enjoy lunch on the small beach.
Loved it...went there on a Wednesday afternoon. Practically had the place to myself. Short easy loop hike that will get you to the water. Very nice if you want to get away from crowded places and just spend some time in silence and nature.
A beautiful park with access to shoreline beaches a rarity on Orcas with most shoreline privately owned. This park has a circle route trail that meanders from the car park, through delightful forest to a stone pebble beach and back again. There are hike-in primitive camping sights on the cliffs above the beach. Pack out your trash. Be kind and respect the locals.
This is a decent hike in, if ypu have any issues walking around, this is not for you, but if you're ok, this is worth the huffin and puffin, lol. Once you get out to the beach past the camp site, it's so quiet and beautiful. Restrooms: It's an outhouse.
Wonderful short hike with interp signs describing how the islands were formed and flora/fauna came to exist on them. Wonderful views. Be careful of steep drops next to the trail. There are hike-in campsites down the trail a ways. Restrooms: Typical vault toilets.
Obstruction past state park is on the far side of Orcas Island. There's ample parking in an easy to follow trail loop that is just a couple of miles. It takes you to some very scenic outlooks over some beautiful ocean bays.
Fun camping stop. Access to the beach and beautiful views. About 1/2 mile hike to camp. Restrooms: Pit toilet near the camp spots and trailhead.
Really nice park at the end of the island. Far out and remote it was a nice get away and wasn’t crowded at all in the off season. 2-3 mile moderate hike goes to a campground, and some incredible views and, beach. Highly recommend if your on the island.
Fantastic spot for short day hike or really short backpacking. The camp spots are accessible after a mild .6 mile hike one way. There are like 11 spots. Only about 3 have decent puget sound views so I would get down there early and set up camp. Most have a table and campfire ring. They don’t allow collection of wood from the forest but you ARE allowed to collect driftwood which we found plenty. Only 3-4 groups down there on a Thursday evening. Since most the area is covered in noisy bushes, you hear every little critter or animal that moves about in the night. Kinda creepy but part of the experience! There is a toilet down near the campsites to use too which is nice but no clean water available even at the parking lot so bring plenty! Highly recommend camping here if you get one of the good spots! We paid 12$ for one night.
Seeing the octopus was, by far, the highlight of our island visit. Definitely worth the short hike.
