My dad has been hospitalized here for a week as of today and I felt like I needed to comment on how wonderful the staff is. Dawn is the most loving, kind nurse I have ever met. Her experience in memory care really shines through in our specific situation. The speech therapist, Emily is patient and gentle and truly cares about our dads recovery. Brett, Jerry, Laura, and so many others have shown us so much kindness and support. While I look forward to my dad leaving, I will truly miss the nursing staff at Marion general hospital.
The hospital itself and most of the doctors are great. The ER has crazy wait times. Sometimes an hour and half just to get through triage. One evening it took me and my family member 10 hours to get through the ER to a regular room upstairs for a spinal fracture. Nothing but waiting. I still would go here before I ever went to Bucyrus Avita. Marion General has the better doctors, nurses, and hospital just long wait times.
This has been a horrible hospital experience! They sent my daughter away 3 times from the emergency room saying nothing is wrong with her come to find out she had meningitis! Then during our 2 week stay with them they did nothing about her blood pressure dropping and the nursing staff would barely help with any of her care. I had to do most of it. It's now the day before she is supposed to get out and I've been trying all day to get a nurse to walk her around so she can walk before she gets out but no one will help and when I ask her 2nd shift nurse about it she is very rude and annoyed with me! This has been an awful experience and would never recommend Marion general hospital for anyone not even your animal!
I avoid this hospital at all costs regardless of living very very close. Tonight I absolutely had to utilize their “emergency” room as such and 1000% regret not taking the risk of going elsewhere. It’s really sad what the medical industry has come to and this place is a frontline example of it all. One star is REACHING they deserve none.
Nurse's are great !! My "Gripe" the pharmacy. I'm doing infusion for cancer. In fact setting chair now. The pharmacy adds an hour to the treatment time sometimes more. It's ridiculous. It didn't take no where that long months ago. What's the problem MGH???. For chemotherapy another Hosp. Might be a smarter choice. Other than the above bitc h 4.5 worst bacon on the planet cost u 1/2 a star..
Went to ER for severe abdominal pain. Triage took my blood pressure 186/103 which is high for me. I was advised to wait in lobby which took 2 hours. Finally got in a room. Doctor came in to ask questions and see which pain medicine works for me due to my allergy. 20 minutes later- no doctor, no pain meds, I'm curled up in a fetal position vomiting 3x by now and a nurse comes in to ask me the same questions I had already been asked 3 times prior. I had to throw a fit like a 2 yo for anyone to help me. By this time, I had been in severe constant abdominal pain for 4.5 hours. Get admitted for the night, still vomiting, had testing done, to find out I have kidney stone. Get released to come home next day and was told I'd receive certain meds to dilate the ueterer. Never received. Called and spoke with Manager Micha on 2N- can't do anything for me. Already discharged. Then he called me a name and hung up. What this tells me about this man 1- he's young and immature! 2- no personable skills. We wonder why the society is turning out the way that it is; when you have healthcare workers managers calling you names and they think it is okay. What kind of people does Marion general have working for them? I don't care if it's the best hospital in the world, the people is what makes the face of Mary in general and I definitely will not go back there and neither should the rest of the society!
I've had to be hospitalized more than a few times the last couple of years. The staff and care is always great! Today, it was a big day for me and I am finally able to eat. The kitchen made a mistake and Chris Macon was there to save the day! He made me the most delicious apple crisp! Thanks to everyone for great care.
Went in with dizziness and chest pain. Was afraid they would consider me a hypochondriac because of past hospital visits. They treated me seriously and took me back within 10 minutes of my arrival. Found out in about 45 mins it was just dehydration and they gave me an IV and I was out of there in about 3 hours total. The staff was so so nice and very calming. Anyone who had a bad experience here obviously had a totally different crew then I did. Thank you all for being so awesome. It feels nice to know if there is a medical emergency I will have a group of people who actually care there to help.
1 star is too high for this facility!! My mom was transferred here after a fall that caused hip surgery. They have no screen to provide updates for surgery. My mom was transferred back to her room, and awake before she ended up calling me instead of the staff. The nurses in her station only checked on her when called upon. No check ups she'd have to push the button to get her pain meds. The didn't give her her daily meds once in 4 days for her thyroid, heart meds or anything. When she asked they said her surgen didn't provide it. And if she brought her meds from home she would be unable to take them . The food was also horrible they never even asked what she wanted to eat just brought the same thing hamburger that was cold
I've been into the hospital about once a month for the past year and I think everyone who works there are great people. My only problem was that I'm in the waiting room for about 2 hours. Happened to be sitting where the air conditioner vent in the ceiling was facing me and I'm freezing. I'm also very impatient so I walked out. Other than that, every person I've met are very nice and professional.
