We are one of the Portland areas last family owned funeral homes. Most of the funeral homes in Portland are now owned by large, out of state corporations, who charge fees that are twice what we charge for the same service. The staff at Omega Funeral & Cremation Service will always strive to help families plan services that are meaningful and reflect a life well lived.

People have asked us over the years, "What makes you different from other funeral homes ?". Besides being family owned, we offer options that let you make the tribute as personal as you wish & our service room can be set up to accommodate any family's needs. For your peace of mind, we have onsite refrigeration & preparation facilities, we also operate our own crematorium, to maintain the highest of standards for the families we serve.

"The Omega Society understands the trauma families face at the loss of a loved one. Omega's founder, Jeremiah de Michaelis, formed the company in 1974 after the death of his father. After spending thousands of dollars on the funeral, he later realized he had been persuaded by the funeral home to overspend as a last display of love for his father. Vowing to prevent the same fate from happening to others, he changed careers and launched The Omega Society to provide individuals a way to make arrangements for themselves in advance -- taking the burden of decision-making away from surviving loved ones -- as well as providing an economical, yet quality alternative to costly funeral service."

The day, my mother passed away, was a challenging day and overwhelming. But I knew that I needed to begin the process of the legal stuff and planning. I connected instantly with Rosie M Torres from Omega Society. She gave me a rough quote of services as I compared it to others. But there was just no way I could turn down what was being offered through Omega Society . The connection, the caring, the details, and all the organization was extremely comforting, and enabled me to have the strength to move forward. I accepted your services. And it was nothing short of perfect. Calls, texts and  emails were done very efficiently for the details, date confirmations and approvals. I believe it was very respectful as the options, presented to my family and having choices of what we would like to do on our Moms behalf, was beautiful.  It was also very comforting to have an advocate when I couldn’t remember things during a time when grieving was still so fresh. I knew things would still get done through this process because of Omega Society . I believe one of the most amazing things was being allowed to have my mom’s viewing at her home. When Ms Torres presented this idea I was floored! So many people were shocked, but yet amazed at how beautiful it all ended up. The compliments are still coming in . To get the casket into her bedroom with measurements and making sure it all worked was superior and so encouraging with the organization of Omega Society . My mom was supposed to come home on hospice, but never made it home so we brought her home anyways all made possible by you. It was the most beautiful home going time I’ve ever experienced and so grateful it was for my mom who deserved everything. Thank you so much for your amazing support, amazing prices, amazing advice and amazing caring.

I cannot say enough good things about the Omega Society. During such a difficult time I was contacted by Melissa who took care of every detail so that I didn’t have to do anything… such respect from the time of the pick up until the end of the cremation. Melissa is such a caring person she made everything so much easier. Cost of the cremation was so affordable the help with Melissa and Julia was more than I could ever expect. On a scale from 1 to 10 I would give them a 20 that’s how good omega society was!

Omega Society walked me through everything. From the moment I called, they helped me and answered all of my questions. Melissa was so graceful and kind and made me feel at ease. From the viewing to picking up the ashes, they were so patient and understanding as my emotions were all over the place, so this was greatly appreciated. I would recommend them to anyone who needs kind, affordable options for cremating their loved ones.

Ms. Perez was thorough, efficient and kind. She also notified Social Security, the most important first step in the post-desth process. Dad's ashes and death certificates were delivered in a week. The price was surprisingly reasonable. Five stars to the Omega Society. Thanks to you all.

The first time I heard about the Omega Society was when my dad passed on Christmas Day 2020. It was unexpected and I was not prepared for anything. A coworker recommended the Omega Society as she had gone there when her aunt passed away. My experience back in December 2020, during Covid, was very good.  I never met anyone in person, it was all done by phone.  However, it went very well. So I knew as my mom was aging with dementia and other conditions; my plan was once again to go with the Omega Society when the time came.  On July 12th, the hospital called at 11:20 pm to tell me my mom had passed.  The hospital then called the Omega Society.  I stayed with my mom until two young ladies came at 2:30 am with the gurney to pick up my mom's body.  The next morning Gracie contacted me from the Omega Society to start the process.  Gracie was amazing, she was texting me and emailing me.  Everything went so smooth.  I was able to arrange a viewing even though my mom was going to be cremated.  Six of my friends joined me for the half hour.  It was such a peaceful room, soft lighting and my mom looked amazing even though there was no makeup on her.  She looked like she was actually smiling and asleep.  I was able to apply my own makeup on my mom, fix her hair and we held a little celebration of life.  The gentleman who arranged it was so kind.  And the receptionist was also very sweet.  I also requested that my mom have one of her teddy bears, a See's lollipop and a dozen roses I brought her to be cremated with her. I also inquired about getting my mom's fingerprints for a tattoo.  When my mom's ashes were ready to be picked up, Gracie once again was texting me.  And once again, I interacted with the receptionist.  She was so kind, she remembered that I gave my friends stuffed panda bears.  She was the one who placed my mom's ashes in the urn I had brought with me.  She was so caring, handing me the box with the urn and said "here's your mom."  Losing my mom has broken me forever.  I was heartbroken when I lost my dad in December 2020... but now to lose my mom was the hardest.  I am so thankful for the staff at the Omega Society for being there to help me through this.  Not only did they help with the cremation, but they also contacted the social security office and arranged for me to get the death certificates.  I cannot say enough.  Death is so hard, but I recommend this place to everyone I know.  And they are so affordable.  Thank you Omega Society!  God bless all of you.

I knew I wanted an efficient and caring crematorium when my loved one passed. My loved one and I had talked about what we wanted, but we never made the arrangements. Omega Society turned out to be the perfect choice. They listened, guided, and advised. Everything went smoothly. This was one thing I didn't have to worry about. Omega Society have made this difficult adjustment much, much easier.

Seriously, no matter how knowledgeable one is about the end of life experience, whether you’ve done hospice service for 1000 patients or you’re a first timer, one phone call was the nicest, the easiest and most kind experience anyone ever needs. Omega gently asks the right questions to make your experience, wholesome, fulfilling, and comforting.
