Beautiful house in a beautiful little town! Haven’t been inside, but just the view from the road is gorgeous!!Visited onWeekday
Date: Spring 2022 Note: Visited the grounds, outside only. I was in the area for a local bike ride and we parked near by. I did not visit inside but the grounds were beautiful and the building appeared upkept and beautiful.
Nice little place to visit in St. Mary's, GA. It is free to get in, but can leave a donation. My husband and I toured to first floor, but needed a guide for the second floor. You can call and arrange a guided tour! It's a beautiful house.
This historic structure is a beautiful example of 1830's Greek revival style. Very interesting to learn about its many lives, from a fancy private home to when the Gilmans purchased it and converted it into multi-family use for workers. The city used it as a library later, and now it is a public museum. A lot of progress has been made inside and out, and the great volunteers and staff I met when I visited are probably just the tip of the iceberg. I like that there are also local events like weddings and volunteer days there. I think its great that the community gets to have this.
So wonderful to visit. Learn something new every time. Tour guides were very engaging and informative.Rich in history, and absolutely beautiful inside and out. Hope it stays open to the public for many more years.

It looks nice and has a long history but it’s been modernized from previous owners and I think it’s taken some of the historical integrity. Really not as impressive as I expected.
Beautiful Building during my time in St. Marys, wish the hours were extended so that I could tour it. Next year.
Beautiful old anntebellum home open to the public at limited times. Nice size yard for community events.
