I didn’t expect to have the best Alfredo sauce of my life at the historical home of a major sweets chain. The ratio of pasta to sauce, and of ingredients within the sauce itself, was perfect. Just enough bread provided to mop up all the remaining sauce, and a side salad to serve as intermission for the heavy taste showed just how thoughtful the folks here are with their menu design. 5/5. Their espresso is rather expensive, but par for course with many other places in Chicago.
One of the Best Italian Bakeries in Little Italy my Family has been going here for generations
I was craving a cannoli so much that I finally decided to google where in Chicago to get a good cannoli! Ferrara Bakery popped and I gave a call for a dozen. I was really trusting the reviews. The moment I took a bite, I was dissatisfied greatly! The shell was over cooked and tasted like cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. The cream was okay, but because of the shell it made the taste horrid! I wish I could get my money back. I should have ordered my favorite cannolis from Carlos Bakery and wait for them to be shipped. Those are so much better than what I had today. Date went: 2/11/2023
An original gem that's left from the old neighborhood of Taylor St. Great food, great bakery items to choose from. Nice place to sit in for lunch. Cannot go wrong with anything here. Prices are good for the quality of food you get. Hope it stays around for another 100 years.
Passed by this place this morning and it caught my attention. I was hungry for a sandwich and figured I'd give this place a shot. Walking in felt like walking into a conveince store at first when you see the two fridges filled with to go entrees and refreshments. Then you look over to your right and you see that it's a place that the owners wanted to feel like home. The decor and color palette invokes Italy and the Mediterranean. It gave off a tiny feeling of being in a completely different country. Obviously when you look out the window you're greeted with a vibrant mural and plenty of cars. I ended up getting the Caprese sandwich and thought it was a good simple sandwich. The mozzarella was cut thick just like the tomato and there was a very subtle pesto drizzled over the two ingredients, sandwiched between a very well crafted french bread. It wasn't snazzy and it wouldn't blow your beret off but it was still good. I'm looking forward to trying their pastries and coffee. Maybe even some of their prepacked meals.
Real Italian pastries and cakes. Had my wife's birthday cake ordered and the flavor and quality were astonishing, this place is now my first go-to place for cake orders. Had also some italian pastry, coffee and some sandwiches that were highly appreciated. They have a selection of main courses too that I haven't tried yes, but by the look and smell I watched from the tables nearby, I would try next time I will be there.
We had an amazing experience ordering our traditional millefoglie wedding cake and assorted Italian cookies from Ferrara bakery. Nello and team were wonderful to work with and the pricing was great. The taste and presentation of the cake was beyond all our expectations! We received so many compliments from our guests on both the cake and cookies. We look forward to ordering millefoglie from Ferrara for many anniversaries to come!
The cannolis and rainbow tri layer cookies are not the greatest in Chicago. Better in New York for sure. Chicago's little Italy seems like it has seen better times. The tiramisu is good . This place has been there a long time ⌛. Definitely a nice place to sit down and eat and drink.
There's something extra special about bringing home a white box all tied up and labeled with Ferrara's gold sticker. You feel the love that Ferrara's staff puts into everything they make. The quality of the ingredients makes all the difference in the world. My Nonno used to order cakes from here when I was a kid and I'm so grateful I can relive those delectable moments as I hit a milestone birthday this weekend. Il mio cuore é felice!
I've been to the bakery before and had a not so great experience. I chalked it up to a one time thing, especially after hearing such great reviews. However, it seems my first impression is correct. The cookies are subpar, the cake is frozen, and the customer service is non-existent. If you can't remember my order properly why rush me?All in all I think I'll be driving further for my sweets.
