The wait time is awful. And the facility is filthy. Go anywhere else. Do not go to the emergency room at OSF St. Francis. If you didn’t come in with an infection you are sure to leave with one, it looks like the waiting room and bathrooms haven’t been cleaned in years. You will wait for hours if you go to this emergency room. It will take less time driving up to the Chicago suburbs. There has been a man laying on a gurney with a neck brace in the ER waiting room for over two hours. He is laying in the middle of the waiting room!!!!
The Psych team are monsters. They don’t care what the parents think. They think they know better and won’t return a phone call. Keep collecting paychecks while my daughter suffers being held at your facility literally in restraints, sedated, or in a large play pen-box bed. She is 13 and has mental health problems, not a prisoner. All to “keep her safe”. If you think you have rights over your kids, you are mistaken. I tried to take her home and they called the cops and threatened us. And because they are doctors they can do that. So she sits in a box for 2 weeks now waiting for inpatient placement, but no one will take her. This is a nightmare.
My mom went into OSF for what we thought was a temporary stay. After the first few days, she was making progress and we were told that if her fever did not return, it was likely we could take her home. She was so excited and moving around as much as possible to keep her strength. Unfortunately, things did not go that way. Apparently, she aspirated on food or water she had ingested and caught a pneumonia. We had no idea that this was something that could be a risk for her. She began getting delirium, but the entire time, the doctor told us there was hope for her. So we continued fighting. The next Thursday of the following week her final day, we were begging to see the doctor. We waited all day and finally he came in to see us around 5:00 in the evening after begging our nurse to get him before the day shifts were finished to tell us that there was no hope. He had come into the room that morning, but we were meeting with palliative care and he missed us. He was supposed to have been given instruction to meet us in the conference room to update us on her status. We waited all day long while, unbeknownst to us, our mom was dying and hooked up to tubes, suffering without morphine. as we begged her to fight and I watched as a tear streamed down her face We were blindsided and CRUSHED. I still can't let it go. She died that night. She was 79 and I feel like she was NOT made a priority that day, perhaps due to her age. I will never forgive the way she and we were dismissed. My biggest regret is that we kept her in that deathtrap and didn't get her transferred to another hospital. I keep wondering why she was left hooked up to an IV and medication for at least an entire day maybe two while they knew she was not going to live. We could have put her into hospice, taken her off the iv's that were stuck into her bruised arms, and given her some relief as she died with her family around. Instead we watched her struggle to breath all day while holding onto some last thread of hope. I'm so angry. I do not understand how she and our family were not made a priority on that fateful day. It is unforgivable.
My husband had an 4 hour surgery on Friday and I was terrified but when I tell you Dr. Padilla and her staff were AMAZING ! I was given an update every hour just like they told me they would do and when his surgery was over Dr. Padilla called me The nurses who cared for him were AMAZING except one Rebecca , who left him walking alone stating you got this ! Ryan was ok but Christal, PT , Sarah , Chantal Dee Tori , Lori Food Service were AMAZING!!!! Oh I forgot my charger and I called to have Sabrina hold it then walked in down to my car !! The only bad thing I can say is the front counter lady was RUDE . I’m recovering from knee surgery and his room was on the other side of the hospital so I asked for a wheelchair, after waiting 30 minutes I asked her how long so she called again stating this lady is anxious which I asked her , why did you say that ? That led me to walk away and begin the long walk…
The technology maybe be new but the service and billing is complete garbage. DO NOT GO THERE unless you are willing to be 100% for everything because they short cut insurance. I have tried over the years several times to give them a chance. This last is the last time. I have switched all my information to Unity Point I advise everyone else to do the same. If not have fun dealing with the useless billing department even if you have insurance!
We visit a lot cause our son. Its always been so nice until the last visit and they moved us out of ICU to the 6th floor. We have extremely good health insurance and the room was the nastiest filthiest room. Floors had spilled fluids on it, furniture was filthy and tore up. Next time you do that to us you'll be transferring us out to Carle or we will sign him out ourselves.
Went to OSF by ambulance Wednesday July 28th to ER for Chronic Back Pain. They put me in this little cubby hole till my name was called, seemed like eternity. Put me in another room said I was making too much noise eventually gave me a Valium and a Motrin. Dr came in sent me for an X-ray which I don’t remember. Took me back which I don’t remember. I just remember walking up in room #1073. They started me on Ibuprofen,Flexeril,Tylenol and then Dr started Oxycodone. My pain was pretty stable unless I moved a lot. I had therapy with Becky and the session I had was great. I even sat up in the chair a short time. Once she left though not remembering how to do each move was unbearable. I laid most the time meds after meds no walking, never asked if I wanted to sit up, even though with the pain I probably couldn’t of anyways not the point. I was discharged Friday early they just brought my breakfast then says your discharge is ready. I scarfed 1 pancake down, someone came in to help me dress, had to call my care taker to come pick me up she was not ready so time lost there they proceeded on getting me out room fast very inconsiderate I think. They called for a someone to come down to wait for my ride. Jake was my orderly or whatever you call them he was wonderful. We sat and waited about 30 minutes for my ride. We chatted and his company was very enlightening. Thank you Jake. You should be praised for what you do!!! My point is OSF isn’t what it is to be. I would prefer Methodist!!!!
The staff here really cares about their patients and their families and my family was no exception. The people at the information desk had an issue with a badge printer so before sending me up for a 3rd time one of the ladies walked up with me to ensure the badge actually worked.
Went to the ER with difficulty breathing. The ER waiting room was filled with patients in gurneys waiting for hospital rooms. Once I got back to my room worst experience. No medical professionalism, worst nurses ever took 7 attempts to get an IV, didn't acknowledge my boyfriend, left trash every where, and the EKG tech lifted up my shirt to expose me to a room full of male medical professionals. Everyone was rude and should not be working in the medical field. Clearly the OSF mission is not be exhibited in this ER.
Went to ER by ambulance and was wheeled into a room where they put in an IV took my vitals and set me in waiting room for 4 hours. They thought I was having a stroke and an allergic reaction to something. I was having focal seizures and blood glucose was high but we waited. Then wheeled to room and they did stroke tests on me and waited another 3 hours before finally getting some IV fluids and medicine in me. The nurse was so busy but nice. He was running all over the place forgetting things we had asked for. We felt like they weren't taking us seriously from the start and we were just a burden to them. It was serious enough for an ambulance ride!!!! Police were called down 3 times for rowdy people. We didnt feel safe in there at all. Was seriously thinking of leaving and going to the other hospital for better help. Next time for an emergency we will. Im still having problems but will not return there. Please go somewhere else!
