Pace Bend Park
"With more than 9 miles of shoreline along scenic Lake Travis, Pace Bend is one of the most popular areas in the Highland Lakes region, offering visitors a wide range of recreational opportunities. The west side of the park features high, limestone cliffs and numerous rocky coves with some of the most impressive views available of Lake Travis, especially at sunset. Most of the park is easily accessible by vehicle from the six-mile, paved roadway that loops the park. However, the interior of the park is managed as a wildlife preserve and can be reached by foot, bicycle, or horseback only. Numerous trails lead into the hills and provide excellent views of the lake and the Hill Country. This area serves as home to a diversity of wildlife."

Awesome park with beach like spots and great MTB trails. Park is very big and has 40 to 50 ft cliff faces at some points. Its the same distance for me to the coast but no gellyfish and clear water will make this my new beach destination. No more gulf coast for me
We pitched a tent and camped here for two nights in March and it was GREAT! Our spot #12, had everything we needed for a great stay. Grill, picnic table, parking spot, excellent power situation, fire pit, water spout for dishes and a flat, dry spot for the tent. This spot was far away from the restrooms so that no one really bothered us during the night.....but the walk wasn't so far that it was a pain to walk that way when we needed to. Highly recommend. Hope the pics help!
This is a great spot for all year round! We love to come on random weekends or weekdays and just enjoy the peaceful scenery. It's never overcrowded. You can drive right up to the water in some parts. Bluebonnet season is the best time out here. Dog-friendliness: If you're dog loves the water, they will definitely love it here!
Been going to this park for years. Spacious sites for the rv. Spotless park, very friendly park personel.
Nice park located in west of Austin 40mins from Downtown. Has lot of camping sites within the park and is allowed for Day-use as well. Speciality of this park is Colorado river joins with Pedernales river and forms a U-curve round the park. Update March2023: Day use fee is $5 valid for the entire day and can be booked online through Texas parks website as well. #HappyTrails Picnic area: Has a nice picnic area with river view
The lake is really low at this time Sept 23' but this is always a nice park with plenty of wild spaces.
Have lived near Lake Travis for years and long sought some great cliff jumping. Finally found it all I had to do was ask Beautiful park with lots of room for biking or hiking. Much of the water front is accessible but a turn on one side gets cliffs and rock formations up to 40' high. Last I was there, cash only, so make sure you have it.
Small but beautiful place! Very quiet because there was not a lot of people, at least when I went. There are a couple of walking and biking trails that I went on that were pretty well kept. Be mindful; the entry is cash only.
Love it here! It’s beautiful, peaceful, and great for swimming, floating and grilling. We have 3 dogs and they love it there too. I’ve also gone cliff-jumping there as well. One thing to know, however, is that the signage at the park isn’t great, so the maps at they provide at the entrance aren’t all that useful. I highly recommend plugging a specific location you want to go to in the park e.g., Kidd Cove into googlemaps and using that to navigate. Also, make sure to bring cash to get in, and it’s good to have a tent there too, since there’s not much shade.
Pace Bend was alright, but not my favorite park or even close in the Austin area. If you want to swim, you’d be better off at Lake Travis. The beach here felt shallower, less spacious, and less clean. We were in and out in just an hour. Driving the loop around as we exited, it looked like most side roads/areas were closed off.
