The world is so beautiful when you can see everything clearly with your own eyes! I did my procedure a little over 9 months ago with Dr. Lin - prior to the procedure my prescription was -11.5 on both eyes and now it is 20/20. Going into it, I was very nervous especially with my high prescription but was put at ease by Pacific Laser Eye Centre's professionalism and how organized they were with getting the documentation they needed and detailing what my post-op care would look like. At all my appointments, including the day of my procedure, I never waited more than 10 minutes in the waiting area and was in and out before I knew it. I had resigned myself to wearing contact lenses for a long time and had worn glasses since I was 6 but always felt uncomfortable with my glasses and would get frequent headaches after wearing my contact lenses for long hours. Preparing for the procedure, I tried to be realistic and didn't think I would get close to 20/20. Before the procedure, I met with Dr. Lin and my conversation with him calmed me down and even got me excited. The post-op instructions were very clear - I did experience some discomfort between days 2-5 but no pain during my recovery. I anticipated feeling discomfort from my discussion with the PLEC team so was prepared for it. After two weeks, I had recovered pretty well and was a little sensitive to light but felt good. I started travelling again within 2 months and Pacific Laser Eye Centre provided an updated list of prescription eyedrops to ensure my smooth recovery in a sunnier environment. What I have really appreciated has been their attention to my recovery throughout the past few months - I got an eye infection 5 months in. It had nothing to do with the procedure but had gotten something in my eye that caused an infection and they had worked with my optometrist very quickly to ensure I received the right eye drops to recover from it. I did not expect how life changing the procedure and how it would create more time in my day. Its amazing being able to see the moment I wake up instead of reaching out for my glasses or lingering around till I wear my contact lenses. I have also enjoyed swimming and surfing post procedure and being able to see clearly. Thank you, Dr Lin and Pacific Laser Eye Centre team!
I'm writing this review on the day of my ~ one year check up. I had my procedure with Dr. Lin. I’m 32 years old, in good health and my eyes were -2.00 and -2.50 prior to surgery. Today I have 20/20 vision and am able to read some of the 20/15 lines at my Optometrist’s office. I have zero farsightedness, nearsightedness, or astigmatism. I still need to use eyedrops every 2 to 3 days on average. Sometimes more if I'm outside and it's windy or I'm in dry climates/rooms, but much less if I'm in a humid environment. I live in the Okanagan, which is dry to begin with. The healing process for me took a while. Much longer than I thought it would be after reading the patient experience page or other patient reviews, especially given my low prescription. I was seeing quite well around seven to ten days post-op but then things got really blurry for me until about three to four weeks post-op. I wasn’t seeing well consistently until around six to eight weeks post-op. I really struggled with dry eyes initially. I was using lubricating drops every 30 minutes post-op. Despite this, Pacific Laser called me after one of my checkups with my Optometrist asking my to increase my lubricating drop frequency because my eyes tested very dry. This meant I was using lubricating drops every 10 to 15 minutes. I do work in front of a computer, and it was winter forced-air heating, so conditions were conducive to dry eyes. I was initially really worried about the outcome of my procedure because of my dry eyes and blurry, fluctuating vision. I was assured by the PLEC staff and my Optometrist that my experience was not unusual, and blurriness and dryness would continue to improve. I was told dry eyes can take around a year to really improve. For me, the procedure was 100% worth it, but you do need to be patient and trust the process. I stuck to the drop schedule religiously and continue to take a healthy does of fish oil every day. It’s a life-changing procedure but it’s important to temper expectations with the length of time healing can take. I understand some people felt rushed through the procedure. PLEC certainly runs on efficiency, but they always made time for my questions and were quick to follow up with information. I would have liked to been able to meet with Dr. Lin during my pre-op appointment instead of ten minutes before my procedure. He was cordial and professional, in any case.
I am 1.5 years post-op. My eyes were around -10 so based on the website, the success rate of 20/20 is lower. I have always had dry eyes and sensitivity to sunlight. Before the surgery, I had exams completed a few days prior to the exam. A package was provided as to what to purchase from the pharmacy so it was ready post-op. The most painful thing post-op was the contact bandage removal. They do moisturize prior to removal but one stuck to my eye more than the other. The day of the surgery was smooth, I don’t think I was in the office for more than an hour. The procedure itself took what felt like 5 minutes and already my vision was vastly improved. The post-op instructions and eye drop schedule was helpful. I followed their post-op follow ups with my optometrist. The information was then forwarded to PLEC and at my one and two months mark, I was given an adjustment for eye drops to ensure that I was on the right recovery path. The end result for me was I still have dry eyes but it does not negatively impact me. I do rely on eye drops at least once a day. My vision is not 20/20 but good enough to drive and for daily activities. Based on my experience, I highly recommend getting SLP as it has improved my quality of life. I no longer have to wear contacts and can wake up and see my surroundings.
I had SLP done by Dr. Lin over two months ago and it was the best decision of my life. Everyone at the clinic was great. Tiffany was especially helpful and knowledgeable. She made my experience smooth and worry free. I highly recommend getting SLP to anyone who needs it.
My husband was a patient with Pacific laser eye Centre and they were phenomenal! We traveled to Vancouver from California to have SLP surgery and cross-linking done with Dr. Lin and my husband’s eyes are healing and doing great after the procedure, it has really started to make a change for him with his vision better. Tiffany was very helpful with all our paperwork and communication relations. We were also missing one medicine for his eyes when we got to Vancouver and Tiffany helped us get the prescription we needed. She responded in fast timely matters and all our emails were very informative and detailed were we had no problems. I truly appreciate her, Dr. Lin and their team for helping us through the process and helping my husband have a better life with his eyesight after the eye surgery.
Patient counsellor Tiffany was very helpful and thorough with me throughout the entire process. Outlined all the steps and clarified any questions that I had. Made me feel that the people at Pacific genuinely cared about getting me better vision. Operation procedure went smoothly thanks to Dr. Lin and associates. Would recommend!
Great clinic. I did a tonne of research before choosing this place and I am so glad that I did. In my opinion, not only is the SmartSurface PRK procedure one of the best in the world, Dr. Lin is also one of the best surgeons in the world. His clinic is run highly efficiently by very friendly and effective staff. 9 days after the procedure, and my eyes are better than they ever were with glasses or contacts!! I travelled to Vancouver just for this, and it was still cheaper and better than the options in America. Bravo Dr. Lin and team!

I am 1 year post SmartSurfACE Laser procedure SLP with Dr. Holland at the Pacific Laser Eye Centre and I couldn't be happier with the results. Dr. Holland did an excellent job with the surgery and my vision ended up stabilizing at 20/20 which is an incredible improvement. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Holland. He was incredibly skilled and put me at ease throughout the entire process. The rest of the staff at the clinic were also top-notch, and the booking experience was smooth as can be. Tiffany was a huge help, getting me in for the surgery much more quickly than I anticipated. She was always very friendly and answered any questions I had about the procedure and the post-surgery process. Overall, I would highly recommend the Pacific Laser Eye Centre for anyone considering laser eye surgery. The staff is professional, caring, and skilled, and the results have been life-changing for me. Thank you so much for giving me back my vision!
Had PRK done here last week. I just got my contact bandages off today. This place is run so efficiently and with amazing care from the people who work here. Everyone is on point and organized, making it a seamless experience despite the discomfort. They walked me through everything and even organized my medications for me. Everyone was so nice. Definitely recommended, even though it’s a trek to get here and costs a little more than other laser eye centres - I’d pick pacific eye again. 100%
