Normally I would agree with this parks high rating. Typically it is a good family and dog friendly park. Despite more families going to the park and pickle ball becoming popular here, there seem to be a lot problems. It's probably only 1% of the goers this last year causing the problems, but it's enough that I won't go here until it's safe again. Go in groups, keep your eyes open, and cell phones out + whatever else you can think of to be safe. Like I said, 99% of the time the park is probably safe.
Great park, lots of play equipment for the kids. We had a family gathering on a 88° Sunday and it was not overcrowded. Playground: Several playgrounds Restrooms: 1 restroom. Was clean. Could use a restroom on either side, but was not a deal breaker. Dog-friendliness: Saw tons of dogs in this park. Picnic area: Lots of picnic areas and pavilions.
Beautiful park with multiple playgrounds for different ages
Lots of park benches throughout the park. Most are in great condition with just two I found that are rusted. 2x Tennis courts in good condition although full of leaves and branches during fall / winter. 2x Half basketball courts. Basketball hoops are broken with court surface in disrepair lots of cracks, pebbles and leaves 2x Sand pits for throwing games 1x Volleyball sand court Lots of picnic tables under trees. Bathroom building has 2 drinking fountains and a bottle filling station although it was not in operational when I visited probably because of the freezing temperatures in the winter. Lots of bike racks throughout the park. Playground: 4 playgrounds total. 1 big with squishy tiles, 3 smaller with wood chips Restrooms: Does have restrooms. Clean. Men's, Woman's, and Family Dog-friendliness: Trash cans + pet bag dispensers. Signs stating pets must be on leash although lots of people don't follow this. Lots of dog walkers. Picnic area: Covered picnic area near bathrooms with 1 table. Another covered picnic area on the west side of the park with 4 tables
The most epic play ground I've ever seen. There were 6 different sets of play equipment... Huge fields, amazing views. They had great bathrooms as well. What a great park.
Parks are parks right? Well, that really depends on your expectations and needs. Coming from N. CA, parks have unfortunately become a beacon for homeless and littered with discarded needles/trash. Not to mention both human and pet waste. Not trying to paint an ugly picture of the Golden State, but there is no denying what it has become. Fast forward to Pah Rah Park since that's what this review is about. I'm not the first to say it's a great park. Easy to get to, plenty of parking both in the lot and on the school side entrance. There are more than a dozen picnic tables and 5 play structures for those young and young at heart. Two horseshoe pits along with a couple of fenced in tennis courts and basketball courts. The park is adjacent to an elementary school but it's kept separate by a fence, so no worries about your pet accidentally getting into the school. Wide open spaces allow for plenty of room to stretch out and maintain social distancing during these crazy times. But in reference to my opening comments. Pah Rah Park is literally a breath of fresh air for two and four legged visitors. Not stepping over anyone or having to watch if children or pets accidentally come into contact with potentially infectious or hazardous materials. Not all is perfect. Yes, there will always be those irresponsible pet owners who don't pick up after their pets, even at Pah Rah Park. So watch your step especially in the grassy areas. It's state law folks to clean up after your pets. Nevada has been able to keep it's public parks healthy and for those like myself have fled what's become of the Golden State, DON'T forget why you left.
Really nice looking park with fresh grass and lots of shade. Great place for taking special needs kids or young ones that need safer places to experiment with natural climbing and imagination...The safe T swing was great idea especially for Cerebral Palsy or Dysgraphy Leukemia etc....and away from the skateparks that can be overwhelming or scary and dangerous or for bigger kids and young adults....It would be nice to see a seasonal slab of Ice or a permanent all year UHMW outdoor regulation Hockey Figure skating rink that would cater to the needs of the neighborhood. Speed Race Hockey Figure Recreational Dancing etc....and free skate....free and out doors well lit and appropriate play list. Also a very nice low Ki park for Yoga or Tai Chi. Dogs...would be nice to see some more gardens flowers or food growing
Theres not much else you could want in a park A lot of parking Shade structures Multiple play structures for varying ages and abilities Their “toddler” play structure is one of our favorites in the area The structures are all relatively new and kept up well Only downside recently is it seems so take a while to see fixes such as a big hole in a slide or holes in the rubber floor. But the space is large enough to avoid Great for walking whether with a stroller, Dogs, groups, yourself etc. The loop is good for runners as well A lot of grass areas as well!
A great place to relax while kids play, get some exercising in or have a huge.30 person party/event at. Bathrooms available and a ton of places for the kids to play. Playground: More play grounds in one park then I've ever seen. Restrooms: Very clean his and hers and family. Dog-friendliness: So many dogs on a leash taking their owners for a walk. Picnic area: Lots of picnic tables and covered areas to escape the sun.
Easily the nicest park in Sparks. The locals take a lot of pride in the park and you will see them picking up litter while walking their dogs in the early hours. Plenty of room to run and play.
