Very small. If you live close or are at the mall, it’s worth stopping in. My kids liked playing with the toys. But it’s dry for adults and too small to have enough to interest the kids. The people are all very nice and well informed.
I had read all the reviews so I wasn't expecting a huge museum. After visiting it i think the "museum " label sounds misleading. I would call it a prehistory experience/exhibit with lecture. Or similar I really like the concept of a place born to exhibit the owners' passion and their personal achievements. I also found the tour very informative and rich in content. We were a group of 4 adults with 4 children: 18, 24 months, who didn't pay to enter, 4 and 5 years old. The children had fun drawing and playing in the play area. While two adults could participate to the tour, the other two adults took care of the kids there's a lot that the kids shouldn't be touching, and obviously that is to them the most attractive object. also, a lot is at child hand level. One adult MUST be with them all the time. I was expecting to be able to choose the language the tour would be explained, but we weren't offered that option. As someone commented in a review the guided tour can be very long and tiring if what you hear is new. For this reason we asked our guide to interrupt it. We were all hungry and the children had had enough of waiting. They had expected to see dinosaur statues and they were confused. I am giving 3 stars because I still find this place a great place to visit for dinasour passionate, but only if older than 5 possibly 6?. We really expected something more inclusive for the whole family. The two parents "babysitting" had no dinasour experience. The children's dinasour experience was playing with dinasour figurines, magnets, or coloring dinosaur prints; but it wasn't enough to leave them unattended, so that the parent could partecipate to the guided tour. I feel like they could get the same experience at home. The best experience you can get is listening to the guide, if you don't have small children to look after or to chase around. I would recommend the tour for older kids and adults. But still, that is not enough to call this place MUSEUM.
We had a great time! Our son loves archaeology and this museum is small in size but huge in amount of knowledge and information. We look forward to visiting again. Update: our son did the summer camp program and loved it. He learned and had a great time! We are looking forward to future programs.
I had a great time with my family. The space is small but don’t let that fool you. Admission was only $8 for adults and $5 for kid. Cheaper than a Chick-Fil-A meal. It’s a great indoor activity that entertained and educated my kids for about an hour. They loved it. The director said they want to expand. That’s exciting since we don’t have another natural history museum in south florida. Glad we could support their mission.
What a wonderful little surprise! Our lovely tour guide was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about every single bone and animal in the museum and was able to compare it to their modern relatives which really brought the experience to life. Unlike most museums most of their displays featured the actual fossils instead of just replicas and we even got to meet one of the men who excavated it! The biggest highlight for my boyfriend was when we were able to get to touch and hold many of the real fossils! Great experience if you are interested in dinosaurs or Florida natural history !
Although small, this place was filled with dino facts I'd never heard of! Our tour guide, Louis ? was knowledgeable and animated in his delivery of paleontological history. We were the only ones there but then the place got crowded after 20 minutes.
I visited today with my 2 boys & the museum was so much more than we expected! I wasn’t sure if there’d be enough to keep a 3 & 5 year old engaged, but the space was very kid friendly with educational toys and dinosaurs that move as if you were at Disney. Not only that, but they got to see, touch & hold REAL dinosaur bones. They had a blast and the archaeologist who gave us the tour was really wonderful. There is so much info and great stuff to see for adults too from maps of how the bones were found to an actual display of how the camps were set up while searching for fossils. We highly recommend and my boys have already asked to go back.
So pleasantly surprised by our visit. My kids had a great time, and I learned a ton as well. The paleontologist who gave us our tour sorry I forget your name sir was the real deal. We loved hearing about his time at dig sites and his discoveries, many which have made world-wide news. Really hope you have the chance to expand the museum like you are hoping.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with our two teenagers. We were not expecting a tour so we were very pleasantly surprised. The docent, Brandon, was extremely knowledgeable, patient and made the subject interesting. We could easily have stayed longer than the hour the optional tour took but we were on a tight schedule. The cost was also very reasonable. We're so glad we happened to find it on google.
Waste of 10 bucks, but that's to be expected given the location. I wish there was a way to reply to a reply directly. My bad, I was there about 3 weeks ago, I guess my memory is not that great. Either way, you can hardly call 1 and a half skeleton a museum.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
