The food is delicious. Made to order so it takes a little while. Some items are seasonal like the fish. The inside of the store is clean and aesthetically pleasing. The owner is very friendly! I definitely recommend the lemon chicken and the Mongolian chicken!!! I am not sure if it was pork or beef but the one that has a deep fried yam is also a must try!!! Btw they have a dessert place connected to their dining room! Go check that out too!
Best family run restaurant for Malaysian Food in Vancouver. I have yet to try better. Way better than Banana Leaf. Definitely a 5 star review if it's just based on the food. The star deduction is for the lack of service. It's a very busy restaurant but that doesn't mean service is not important along with the great food. They have many workers walking around but apparently they can't take orders and there is only one designated person for that. If this is improved there is no better place. The food is stellar and never disappoints! We had the Curry Laksa, chicken and lamb satays, radish cakes, beef rendang, sambal green beans and of course the marvelous roti canai. These were the highlights but we ordered a few more dishes. Must try this place !
Food isn't bad but there are hits and misses. The gado gado is definitely a miss as there is not much to it except some small tofu puffs and bean sprouts and the sauce is bland. Fish and clams are both yummy. Service is a bit slow even though it isn't a busy day but we did receive excellent service from the waitress.
Food was mostly good, but service was lacking. When we got there and let them know about our reservation, they rummaged through their book only to find out they gave away our table to another group. At the time there was a bigger table available that they could have easily sat us at. But instead, they decided to relocate the party that already sat down at the smaller table and got us to sit at where they were just at. Confused because the other party only had 3 adults and a kid. Our party was 5 full grown adults. Why did they give the bigger table to the smaller party...? Next up, they were very busy on a Thursday night but was very understaffed. Getting waiters attention was impossible. What's worse was when I managed to flag down one of the ladies, she told me to wait and she'll get someone else to take my order. Thinking that she was busy, I said ok. But she turned right around and started playing with a kid at the next table. Huh?? So she wasn't busy and didn't want to do her job and made me wait another 5 minutes for someone else to help me. Was not impressed with that. Food wise, some items were worth getting, others not so much. Recommend: - sambal big prawns. On the salty side but yum - Bak kut teh. Exploding with herbal and traditional ingredients - tofu goreng. Refreshing combination, appetizing - durian smoothie. Intense durian flavour and meat inside! Well worth a try if you like durian Just ok: - kampang fried rice. - milk dinosaur. Too diluted with water Don't order: - chicken curry laksa. Lacks flavour, depth and no coconut aroma - roti. Not flakey like it should be. Chewy but not the good kind. Stale
Exotic decor with Malaysian food. Vegi was fresh and delicious. Deluxe 3 meat curry was a bit disappointed cause all 3 dishes were made of the same kind of curry.
“Oh look, a Malaysian place” my better half remarked as I was driving on Fraser. And we both were quite hungry! Difficult to get parking around there but eventually managed to do so and quickly went in … to a packed place! But the waitress nicely offered us a table if we will eat quickly and vacate the table within 45 minutes for a reservation. It was an eclectic and cute little place with nice decorations and quirky touches. Anyway, we quickly ordered and knew then we will need to make a reservation to come again as their menu offers quite a few tempting choices - and the food served at the other tables certainly looks way better than our rushed ordering lamb rendang, satay, char kueh teo. Plus the little dessert kiosk certainly looks as if it offers yummy selections. Will come back and probably again review and adjust the star rating.
As a food guide, i’m pretty lenient when it comes to bad experiences however this one was quite poor compared to all my other reviews. To start off, we called at 6pm for a reservation for 7:05 and were never asked for a name. Fast forward to the restaurant itself and they were skeptical about our reservation as they didn’t ask for a name. Other parties were seated before us despite having a reservation and ended up waiting 10 minutes. After being seated, we were served tea which was oversteeped and cold by the time it was given. The plates were somewhat dirty as mine had hair in it which was disappointing. The service provided by the waitresses was very poor. They would look at us and despite clicking the buttons a couple time were served very rarely. They would even casually talk to one another before serving us with our hands up. The food was mediocre at best. The drink also came very late and tasted like straight up water Milo Dinosaur. Would not recommend. If you’re looking for a better experience overall, i’d reccomend John 3:16 Malaysian Delights or Kopitlam
Garbage. Food. Not tasty. There are others around that are way better.... Service...below average. Hard to get hold of the waiter/waitress. Dessert....ice kachang ..... Wow huge disappointment. Should ice kachang be shaved ice or iced cube? Joke?
Nice family owned restaurant. Food was really good! Nice portion sizes and not too salty. The owners have a lot of fun and they would turn the speakers on to celebrate birthdays of customers eating at the restaurant. Very fun vibes! Love the ambience and atmosphere. Would highly recommend!
Dined here with family. Loved their pineapple fried rice, rotti so flavorful yum, dungeon crab a bit salty but still edible ,the chicken yummm Okay the food and service is great here guys. I recommend
