Went for coffee here with a friend and I loved it! The Americano was nice and strong as I like it and the peanut butter and chocolate cookie was amazing. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. The cafe was not to full but had about 10 people there and the music was at the perfect level to either hold a conversation or work on your computer. I highly recommend this place.
We had all of vancouver to have breakfast at during our 5 day trip and we still chose to come back to kings cafe 3 times. The service is friendly and accommodating. They'll even suggest places to go. The food is also phenomenal.
This place definitely has it share of fans and business was steady when I visited. I really like the nice relaxing atmosphere, clean decor and awesome friendly service. Since the cafe was 3/4 full when we visited, food and drink service was a little delayed but we didn't care because we were in no rush. I see from previous post that some people liked their coffee's but my large cappuccino with 2 shots tasted more like warm, brown milk with foam and cinnamon sprinkled on top - very weak. I spoke to the barista and he suggested that next time I add another shot or tell them to adjust the amount of milk before they make it. The full size panini sandwiches at $8.50 were fairly large and filling but didn't wow me. The bread was hot but the meat and cheese was cold/like warm in the middle - the sandwich slid apart as I was trying to eat it with mayo oozing out the sides. If we were in the area we might drop by again but not really a "destination" coffee place.
Decent cafe unique to this area. Ambiance was good. Coffee was fair. I tried the almond croissant because of another reviewer commented on how special it was. After tasting it, my verdict is that it's actually not unique/extraordinary. It's a Chinese pastry version of an almond croissant - so that means it's moist and sweeter, not flaky nor crisp like a French croissant. And it has the same sort of moist sweet filling spread found in other Chinese pastries.
I am glad that I could find a modern and cozy coffee shop on Kingsway or East Vancouver. The interior design and ambiance are similar to the ones in downtown Vancouver or Vancouver west. I ordered an almond croissant and a latte for breakfast. The latte was above average but it was still not the best like the ones I had at Le Marche St. George, Timbertrain and platform 7. There could still be improvement on the latte here. Almond croissant was okay but not the best ones I had at Thomas Haas double baked almond croissant and Timbertrain. The server told me that their bakery goods and pastries were ordered from somewhere else. They did not bake them at this coffee shop. This was not the first time I had a coffee and breakfast here. Their panini and sandwiches were quite good. If I am in this neighbourhood again, I would like to go to this coffee shop instead of Tim Hortons or Starbucks.
Rode our Motorcycles up for the day from Seattle and discovered this place. Awesome combination of coffee, teas, wine, and the start of a local market for artisan goods produced locally in Vancouver. This just in; they're having a stand up comedy event on July 28th. In a growing neighborhood this place is positioned great. We found street parking right out front but I hear there is a lot around the corner.
$$$ I like the concept of a coffee bar that also has a liquer licence but price and serving portion wise it is only priced reasonably when happy hour if coming for a glass of wine. Friendly service. They also offer an array of paninis etc. The cafe was busy with the usual laptop crowd, they have outdoor seating.
I follow them on Instagram. When I walked in the shop was much smaller than I was expecting. We got there around 3pm and the whole shop was FILLED with students and their computers. The music was really good, but it felt a bit weird because of the students. I got the almond croissant and it was PHENOMENAL. It had an almond paste in the middle probably marzipan the coffee was good also. My friend go a “kings pick me up” which was Van Gogh vodka, espresso ice cube, Bailey’s coffee. I should have taken a photo, but if your up for a good alcoholic mid day pick me upper- get it. You won’t be disappointed. The way the drink is presented is it’s own experience. In the evening they have love music. I haven’t been to that yet, but I’m curious about it.
Incredibly friendly place . I had a summer internship near here and got lunch nearly every day hot cappicoloa sandwich + iced tea almost without fail 3-5 times a week. The level of service they provide and the hospitality they provided was simply amazing. By my third day coming in they had my order memorized and were calling out my name when I walked in the place. Just a great operation they have going on here. I would recommend this spot to any one 100% looking for a consistently great coffee shop.
I drive by this place all the time but never been here. I meet a client here for a meeting in the morning and it was busy but not noisy. After lunch, its much quieter surprisingly! I have to admit their specialty coffee was really good. There are power outlets to charge your laptops and phones. Over 50 seats in the cafe. Open patio. Complimentary Wi-Fi. Service by the two young Asians were very polite and courteous.
