Plainfield Riverfront
Over a century after Electric Park became a destination for area tourists, the Village of Plainfield has embarked on an ambitious plan to once again make the DuPage River a focal point of our town.
Since 1988 plans have been on the drawing board to enhance Plainfield's identity as a riverfront community and enable residents to enjoy all of the amenities offered by this beautiful natural treasure.
In 2007, the Hitchcock Design Group in association with Business Districts, Inc., Hey & Associates and Civiltech Engineering, prepared a Riverfront Master Plan, which proposed sweeping changes to the downtown area of Plainfield, as well as areas on the east and west sides of the DuPage River. The first part of that plan has been realized with the renovation of Lockport Street. The next phase is now underway.
The Plainfield Riverfront Foundation was established by a group of dedicated Village Residents and stakeholders, who are working together to assure that this plan becomes a reality.
They would like all residents and friends of Plainfield to join them in the quest to make Plainfield an even better place to live, work and play.
