We were lucky enough to plan a visit on a warm day in autumn. We spent a few hours strolling around the lovely grounds, looking at all the beautiful trees and the gorgeous mansion. There are lots of little planted areas and paths that you can stroll. There are large open fields, and some greenhouses that you can go inside, and there’s even a little teahouse from the original owners of the mansion that is lovely and charmingly decorated. I imagine this place must get very crowded on weekends during good weather, if you can stop by on a weekday.
If you want to recharge your self with nature you should visit this amazing historic park. It is Beautiful and well maintained. We went there in summer and also in fall. Each season has different beauty. It was hard to stay longer inside the green houses in summer but it was much better in fall. You can treat your self in Magnolia cafe and their Philly cheese steak was really good. Coe Hall is opened for guided tours and so many things to see in there.
We had a magical day at this Arboretum. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! So inspiring. Makes me want to get my garden at home in shape. I loved every moment. The greenhouses are arranged so beautifully and it’s the best arboretum/botanical garden I’ve been to in several states.
Beautiful place. It feels like another world. A great place for a picnic. It was a spontaneous trip, I didn't get a chance to go inside the museum. But the grounds satisfied me! I will return. I'm inspired by paths..
Nice little arboretum - clean, well maintained., enough parking. Cherry and magnolias were in bloom when we went. Family friendly 1.5 mile trail on AllTrails is a good way to walk at your own pace and enjoy the outdoors. 3 stars dinged as staff was adamant and incessant about needing permits to take photos on consumer-grade digital cameras. I clearly understand the need for professional photographers to take permits, but one little digital camera on the neck and you are treated as a professional - that's a bit much. More so in today's day and age when most cell phones take incredible photos. Even the immensely larger Brooklyn and New York Botanic Gardens do not have such high-handed enforcement of arbitrary photography rules.
It was a humid day this last week in August but Planting Fields Arboretum has many shady areas and benches along its paths and trails. Fantastic display of plant species The visitors center was displaying Art for Ukraine. Enjoyed immensely If you have an empire pass it costs nothing to park. Access to Coe Hall is 10 per person, cash only. We chose not to go this time. It is stroller and wheelchair friendly.
Beautiful place to visit in Long Island and a hidden gem. There is an amazing green house, pool, and cool architecture to see. It's peaceful and serene. They also have great classical music. I recommend checking out long Island chamber music!
Beautiful to visit year round! There are well maintained walking paths and staff do a nice job clearing the paths of leaves. Trees and plants are labeled throughout the park and there are clean bathrooms. You can visit for one day or multiple days and still find more to see! Restrooms: There are well maintained bathrooms on site. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are not permitted.
Absolutely breathtaking! Incredibly enormous trees and magnificent rare breeds make this arboretum a spectacular gem! Pictures do no justice for the wonder of this park! With long overgrown branches reaching both towards the ground and the sky, large picturesque trees implanted on rolling hills make for beautiful natural art. My husband and I traveled there for the 2022 TCIA nys climbing competition, but the beauty of the park was all we could focus on! Well worth our 10 hour drive!
Great gardens and made for a nice peaceful couple of hours. Plenty of space to stroll around on paved paths and also on the lawns as well. The grounds change with each season so you will see different flowers, plants and trees thru out the year. Has a mansion you can tour, greenhouse and a cafe. You can also bring a picnic lunch and sit on the many benches thru out the grounds as well. Plenty of parking and public bathroom also. I would highly recommend Planting Fields !
