New shoes price range average $65 to $200.00 & gently used shoes price ranges from $15 to $40.
Platforms buys gently used shoes from the community at a rate of $5 per pair and offers cash on the spot. Styles are selected by the store’s buyer and shoes must meet acceptable criteria.
Understanding the importance of giving back to the community, Platforms owner also owns a human service organization that supports people with various disabilities in their homes and community (IDD & Mental Health services).
Platforms unique feature is that it offers a charity component. The boutique will support 12 charities per year (non-profit organizations). Each month local charities will have the opportunity to apply to be “Charity of the Month”. The boutique will give a portion of the sales from the gently used shoes to the charity of the month. At the end of the month the boutique will present the charity with a donation from the gently used sales. During that month the boutique will block off a time for that charity to have a “Private Shoe Sale”; the charity can invite all of its friends, supporters and members and will be offered a discount on NEW shoes in the boutique. The boutique will take this time to “Celebrate” and thank the charity for its support to the community.
Platforms is excited about its charity component as it gives the boutique an opportunity to do its part by not only stimulating the economy with employment opportunities but also an opportunity to show its appreciation and give back to the community.
