I'd love to find out how I would rate them - but I can't reach them. I've tried 4 days in a row. I stay on hold for 20, 30 minutes, only to get to the front of the queue - then it rings, no one answers, and then it puts me to the end of the queue again - and it all starts again. I've heard great things about the doctors - and wish I could find out. Not sure what to do - hopefully one day I'll connect with them and be able to change this to a 5 star rating. I'd love to do that.
No response to online appointment requests which they prefer, No Que Call Backs, and ALWAYS a long wait on the phone. I would also like to mention that the Front office team has really started to slip over the past two years. I guess the introduction of automated services has given them more time to talk with each other and ignore their job duties.
THEY DON'T WANT YOU AS A PATIENT. Called and waited on hold for over 25 minutes. The system eventually said I had 1 person ahead of me. After 10 more minutes, it said 5 more people ahead of me. About 10 minutes after that, it moves to 8. I'll take my money elsewhere because you obviously can't be bothers to answer your phone.
Only started using PPA when I followed a Doctor from another medical group. Doctor was great but left. PPA may have other good doctors, but their office management is beyond unacceptable. I've read the reviews and agree, you cannot get through on the telephone. If you do get through the circular menus you then hold and hold, and as you get to the beginning of the que they drop you or restart your position in the que. They changed the patient portal and I've never been able to get it to work and there is no one available to help you. And I'm IT literate so I'm not sure what the problem is. They ignored the request I submitted for a refill on my blood pressure medication despite the fact that I was out of medicine. I couldn't get in touch with the front desk or the Doctor and finally moved to another provider. Further, PPA twice billed me and my insurance company for blood work they didn't perform, because their technicians could not find a vein in my arm despite multiple attempts. The second time I specifically asked the technician to be sure that the services were not submitted to billing. I went upstairs to Lab Corp and the technician found a vein on the first try. The first time PPA billed me incorrectly I was never able to determine how they calculated the credit in billing. The second time they just keep billing me despite telling me they would fix it. Amazing how I can always get through to billing department. If you need a provider I would highly recommend you seek another alternative. The above will be the basis for a certified letter to PPA and to my insurance provider. I tried to find a corporate PPA office, but it seems that information is not readily available.
Dr. Andrea Karp is fantastic! Her bedside manner and genuine care is unparalleled. Our family has gone to this practice for years and I can't thank all the doctors and staff that make this place run enough. As one of your many patients, your dedication, care and assistance to our community is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Horrible horrible, do not go! Office management 101. Zero customer service. How can they not figure it out? Have to call 3 separate times waiting 15 minutes to talk to someone!!! Try to call to cancel can't get through, then they want to charge you a late cancel fee! My husband has shown up for two scheduled appointments to be told he is not even on the books. So terrible, I would hate to be really sick in the us. Healthcare is a nightmare. We are switching doctors. This office is not interested in taking care of people.
I've been going to Dr. Chen for years and still think he's great. However, earlier this week I had to wait over an hour for scheduled 9 am blood work which should take 5 minutes. Even after that long wait they couldn't tell me how much longer it would be at 10:15. I had to leave and go back to work at that point and was starving to death. I initially agreed to come back 2 days later to re-try it, but was still so mad later in the day I cancelled the annual appointment completely. I don't know any working person that has this kind of time to throw away. This should not ever be considered acceptable service. The long waits seem to be getting worse over time, unfortunately.
Dr chen is the best! Due to his care he saved my husband's life. My husband was able to live two additional years due to Dr Chen's quick thinking and care. HOWEVER...the administration part of the office is absolutely the worst. The phone system changes nearly every year however is still terrible. We all get calls after our labwork saying we didn't get it done followed by text or phone calls saying we didn't get it done...very unsettling. So we all call and go thru their rediculous phone prompts to try and find out what went wrong or if they lost our results only to be told oh just ignore that, it's the system. Makes them seem incompetent to patients. And there seems to be some rediculous schedule that docs can only do physicals during a short time of the year. What's up with that? Their rules are totally stupid! I am ready to look for a new practice solely because of the admin side of the practice. Their ratings used to be fantastic but they have been steadily declining only a 3 and if you read the reviews ALL of the complaints are due to the same thing I am complaining about!!! Fire the management company and make your practice great again!!!!!
My previous physician left this practice for concierge service. I was satisfied with his care. Now, after a period of time and after having been assigned to another doctor in the Bethesda location, I am trying to make an appointement for a physical. Because I have not actually set a foot into the office I am told I am a new patient and cannot be seen as they are not accepting new patients. No matter that they assigned me to another doctor. All of the reviews detailing poor customer service by the office staff, expecially via phone calls are spot on. Additionally, the practice is all about maximizing profit at the expense of customer satisfaction.
Stay far far away from this practice! If I could leave a negative stars review, I would. The office staff is the worst I have ever seen. Too many negative situations to write about. I will focus this review on my latest and last visit to this practice. My doctor, Dr. Andrew, was unavailable on June 26th when I called with abdominal pain and bloating. They got me in to see Dr. Chen. Waited over an hour in the waiting room almost horizontal due to the pain. Once in to see Dr. Chen, he was more concerned about my cholesterol and blood pressure than the pain I was in. Told me to get blood work done the next day fasting, prescribed an over the counter antacid and told me to come back in 3 - 4 weeks if the pain continued. Got blood drawn on Wednesday, June 27th fasting. On the morning of Thursday, June 28th, I called the practice to get my blood results from Dr. Andrew. Left a message as she was not available. No return call. I called again at 1PM that day and was told she had left on vacation. Never returned my call. I later called a close friend, a physician, and explained my situation. Still in a lot of pain. Within a 5 minute phone call she had diagnosed my problem and ordered me to the ER at Suburban. She called ahead and told them I needed a CAT scan. Walked into Suburban Hospital at 6PM on Thursday, June 28th and was being wheeled into the operating room at 9:15PM. I was hours away from a burst appendix! If I had followed the advice of Dr. Chen to come back in 3 - 4 weeks, I would probably not be here writing this review. Oh and they have billed me for the visit with Dr. Chen. Even after telling them my story they want me to pay the $135 bill for a doctor's visit that was medically negligent. This is the worst practice I have ever seen. As mentioned, I no longer go to them and now see the physician that got the diagnosis correct from the start. STAY AWAY FROM POTOMAC PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATES!
