The Red River Museum is a little piece of heaven for any history buff or really anyone interested in the history of eastern kentucky. The staff and owners are extremely nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting the Natural Bridge or really anywhere in the RRG to stop by the Red River Museum and check them out. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. It's educational for the whole family
The Red River Museum was an informative and unique experience that provided a vast amount of information of the past. Some of the information that stood out on my tour were the relics and other remains of the past Native American cultures. The giant, well-structured brick building that displayed “Clay City” and “National Bank” in thick bold lettering made it stand out in its environment. The inside of the building was captivating and the life-sized animal statues on the left when I entered immediately captured my attention. This was unlike other museums because the layout felt somewhat like someone’s home which provided a more relaxed feeling than other museums. The staff was very generous with giving information about what they had in the museum. The upstairs which had more relics of the past was very captivating and the museum staff was also providing descriptions and answering the questions my colleagues and I had. Overall, this was an amazing educational experience that I would encourage others to visit in their free time.
Red River Museum is a hidden gem for discovering Kentucky history. They have multiple buildings on site that are all filled with interesting artifacts. I saw several compelling items like the Churchill Weaver and a calculator from 1903. The staff seemed to be volunteers and highly excited to share information on the artifacts. These folks have kept the facility running for a long time through many challenges.
