Thanks Riverside Regional Medical center for being the No#1 Top notch Neo Natal Paternity ward in all of Hampton Roads... We thank you for taking such good care of my family & friends, by practicing your "Mission Statement... "To care for your patients, as you would care for your loved ones. My husband was so pleased with your services, he rated you 5 stars because of the special care you've given to his entire family thru the years. And the beautiful new, Spiritual Sanctuary & Garden that gives one peace & tranquility. Also the Abernathy Community Garden's/Causey Mills Park trail that is just a breath of fresh air and such a delight ...
My one complaint is the cleanliness of the ER area. I was put in the chair area for care which had dirty blankets on it from the last patient. The nurse told me to sit down and I immediately asked for something to wipe the area down at which time she cleaned the space for me. I just feel that if I had not said something she would have put me right on top of someone else's germs. The bathroom was also pretty dirt for it to be a hospital. A gown just sitting in there and paper towels and tissues on the floor. Maybe it was just a bad night, but the walls and fixtures in the bathroom gave me gas station vibes like everything could use a deep cleaning. I think if you are gonna turn part of the waiting area into treatment area it would work better logistically to have a rest room that doesn't require entering the main ER area that needs a key to enter and exit. Staff was okay to me. Seemed a little short staff, but everyone was pleasant. Not my first visit here. Previous visits did not make me feel the need to write a review for suggestions though.
The first time we were here last week, the nurse in the ER left her vial of blood and the bloody instrument on the table beside my mom. That's just reckless... We are back here again and now they are saying they won't let anyone sit in the Waiting room because of COVID. Last week, the waiting room was so packed, you couldn't even find a seat. How does protocol change in the matter if one week? They are not the least bit concerned that I'm waiting outside in my car at 2:30 a m. The hospital had excellent staff and was reliable and everything was consistent. Riverside ER, you need to do better !!
I took my husband here where he waited 6 hours for a nurse to put a back brace on him. He fractured his L1 in a fall. It's was such a terrible ordeal. His test results were in 2 hours before anyone said anything and only finally went to look when I finally spoke up..Riverside you need to overhaul your ER department. There is not any patient privacy or patient care. It's sit in that chair and wait. I am also informing my insurance company for their further review of my bill of over $8,000.00. Absolutely ridiculous I would be happy to speak to anyone at Riverside who wants to do something. There is no way Riverside can be proud of its ER department.
Riverside has completely changed. It used to be the best hospital in the area but their concerns for patients is at its lowest point ever. They put you in chairs now instead of taking you to a room. You have other sick patients around you sleeping, talking or playing music so you absolutely can't get any rest. On top of that there is no doctor for you to even talk to about your questions or concerns. They don't even bring a doctor out to let you know what is wrong with you and how your tests came out. They only let a nurse take care of you. This is absolutely ridiculous, rude, and unprofessional. Whomever came up with this terrible idea needs to be fired immediately! Patient care is no longer their number one priority. If it was they would not throw sick people into recliners instead of giving them an actual bed and a real doctor to take care of them.
I had my son via scheduled c-section and it was a wonderful experience. The staff in L&D and mother/baby were amazing, so caring and accommodating. Dr. Casanova was the doctor who completed my c- section. She did a wonderful job. They all took great care of both my son and I. We will be returning for our next delivery.
Don’t come here unless you want to be waiting around for 5+ hours without being able to see your loved ones. I took my fiancé here because of a kidney stone around 1:30pm and was told because I’m not a blood relative I couldn’t stay inside with him. It’s currently 7:08pm and he hasn’t been seen by a doctor and haven’t received any updates and I haven’t been able to see him the entire day. 10/10 would NOT recommend
I went to ER last week and waited in the waiting room for over 3 plus hours. I have many concerns but the number 1 concern is I came in with chest discomfort and have Covid. They did an EKG and immediately put me in the waiting room. No body took sanitary percautions or ever washed their hands. Nurses were not wearing gloves. I feel like Riverside Er has become a third world hospital. Riverside has always been my first choice but for now on I will be using another Er.
By far this has to be the worst hospital in the state of Virginia and they should be ashamed of themselves. My son was in excruciating pain, after disclocating his shoulder. My wife rushed him to the ER and arrived at approximately 2243 hours on 11/27/22. I arrived shortly after to check up on them only to be greeted by racist Riverside Staff. They saw that we are a blended family and tried to strictly enforce the policies after seeing me whereas policies were not enforced before I got there. The Security on staff harassed my wife, my son and I and even threatened to charge us with trespassing after an hour of waiting for to be seen they even threatened to call the cops. We need to be supplied with their respective Supervisors names and contact phone numbers and email addresses for the unprofessional Riverside staff and bogus Security that was on duty. We're also requesting the DCJS numbers of the officers on duty. Systemic racism should not be tolerated on any level and this matter should be dealt with swiftly! My recommendation for everybody is to look up better quality Hospitals in the area and go there rather than Riverside. Maybe this matter should be escalated upwards perhaps?
I recently went to the ER, and was transferred to L&D immediately after coming inside, I had an unexpected amount of complications and was in labor for longer than I was prepared for. I was very anxious and ended up getting really sick as well as the baby due to infection because I wasn't able to progress in labor fast enough after my water broke and labor stalled several times. The medical team here, every doctor, every l&d nurse, every anesthesiologist, every OR tech every post partum nurse, has nothing but my full gratitude and love. I felt so safe, protected, validated and truly heard out. They explained every option before doing it and making sure they had my consent, listened to my concerns, and were so on top of my health they would notice a change before it even fully hit me. I wish I could remember every single name so I could give them all full credit, I was in and out of consciousness during the entire thing but during my stay there isn't a single one of them I wouldn't trust with my life or the life of my baby. They were phenomenal, compassionate, and now I'm at home healing with my lil girl and doing great. Even though all my fears came true due to my body not being able to fully handle the pregnancy, they made my labor process one I can look back on and not hate. They deserve all the roses.
