I am going to be so honest, this was probably the best place i’ve ever been. I would consider myself probably just a little bit higher than beginner and just being in RBA added experience to my ability to keep fish. My lovely boyfriend and I spent more than an hour just walking around and looking at each fish. There is an INCREDIBLE selection of freshwater and saltwater fish, and a lovely assortment of display tanks that really added to the feeling that these people knew what they were doing. We spent a lot of time talking to an employee named Jack, and he was absolutely perfect. He was so kind and so patient and I ask a LOT of questions, he answered every single one. I also have never in my life seen cleaner thanks than the ones at RBA. Like, absolutely immaculate. Each tank is perfectly balanced with plants and plecos and it keeps them healthy. The other thing that was so telling to me was that each betta they had was in a different tank. No cups! Seriously, if you’re thinking about being a fish keeper or already are, RBA is an absolute MUST.
Grand soft opening today, the store is located on 1225 Jefferson rd henrietta ny. The store opened today and the offical Grand opening is going to be on September 16th 2022. The parking lot is clean and safe with handicap parking close to the entrance way. The exterior of the glass front reminds me of old downtown wth beautiful paintings. Great job to all the employees and owners who have done a fantastic job. The interior of the store is not quite finished yet but the layout looks great. The displays and aquariums will be a pleasure to look at for my new aquatic friends to bring home and enjoy. Gerry
This place is absolutely amazing. My partner and I spent about an hour here and could have stayed longer, just admiring all the tanks. There's an amazing variation of fish, snails, shrimp and plants. The tanks are SO clean and well taken care of. The atmosphere of the whole place is just so safe and soothing and when we were there, an employee named Jack was working and it was so clear how passionate and educated he was about fish keeping. I would recommend Rock Beach to anyone who is interested in fish keeping, or just looking to spend some time watching the tanks. Honestly better than any aquarium I've ever been to.
The new storefront reflects the owners love of the hobby. Super helpful, friendly, and have amazing product. Huge store that you have to check out for yourself! They also have amazing plants for your home too!
Stopped in Sunday 2/19. Been about a month or two since my last visit. The store never seems to disappoint me with the selection and quality of the sales tanks. Had a very good experience with Dylan. Very knowledgeable and passionate in the hobby. Dylan greeted me with a smile as soon as I walked in and was able to take time and understand my ongoing issues with my setups. It was nice to have an experienced individual understand what I was going through and guide me in the proper steps to overcome it. Not to mention the other staff members are also very friendly and passionate about the hobby. Will definitely be my go-to aquarium store and should be anyone else’s first choice when it comes down to assistance and quality. Thank you for the amazing service and I can’t wait to see you guys expand your setup.
Very helpful and friendly staff, the place is clean and the fish are very well cared for. The aquatic plants I purchased are thriving in my tank.
My girlfriend and I live in Syracuse and have a hard time finding a quality freshwater fish store in the Central New York area. Having been to at least five stores, I can honestly say the hour drive out to Rochester to visit this store is worth it. For those looking for quality fish, plants for your aquarium, and a fantastic customer experience, read no further and check out this store. They carry most tropical fish you could want angels, cichlids, tetras, algae eaters, goldfish, invertebrates shrimp, snails, plants, driftwoods, and aquarium maintenance products. For those wondering what the store is like, here's more detail: First, if you are visiting the store for the first time, this is a one stop shop for all your fishing needs. You'll be greeted with numerous options, from community fish to angel fish, cichlids, and even a display tank with alligator gar. They also carry a decent amount of plants if you're looking to start a planted aquarium. The tanks are cleaned and maintained very well and the owner keeps up with modern technology to perform automatic water changes. If you've only been to Petco or PetSmart to look at fish, this will be an entirely new experience for you. Tim, the owner of the store, is incredibly helpful and more than helpful in providing advice, educating about starting a new tank or getting into this hobby, and will make sure your questions are answered. He does a great job managing the store and provides great customer service, whether be over the phone, in store, or through social media. Having said that, if you are looking for the cheapest fish in the market, you won't find it here. Fish sold at large box stores are bred for quantity and usually carry some parasite or disease which ruins the experience of this great hobby. Tim quarantines fish and takes care of every tank in his store and makes sure you're walking out with a healthy fish and a satisfied experience. Sometimes it's worth paying a couple cents or dollars more for the care and quality of fish that is being sold. We've bought a oranda goldfish and a couple dozen shrimps from RBA and haven't had any loss. I can't recommend this store enough and if you're not looking to buy anything, you can still check out the beautiful display tanks and won't feel pressured to buy anything. Will definitely be coming back more often :
I very rarely write reviews but we just love Rock Beach so much that I had to! The staff is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and so helpful. We have a 6 year old daughter and from our first visit they have always been absolutely wonderful to her. She's pretty well behaved, but she's young and very energetic. She's also VERY friendly and always has so much she wants to share with people. So I am sooo grateful that everyone at Rock Beach is so sweet to her! They take the time to answer HER questions and even listen to her stories. Our first tank was only 2.5 gallons with just a few little fish we got from PetCo. Even though we monitored levels and made sure not to overfeed, all those fish died within a few months. We decided to get a little larger tank and try again, and this was when we found Rock Beach Aquatics! We left able to put together a beautiful tank with live plants, guppies, a pleco, shrimp and snails. Within 6 months the 5 fish we started with had bred so much that we now had dozens and far more than our tank size should have been able to handle. Yet the tank thrived. Something I attribute largely to the superior habitats they lived in at RBA before coming home with us. So we decided to upgrade again to a 55 gallon and now it's become quite a hobby. We have been spending more and more time at RBA, this time at their new location. Obviously it's a huge undertaking to move even one fish tank, much less an entire store of tanks. So there is still a lot of open space. But this has made visiting the store even more fun and enticing! We find ourselves regularly wanting to add a new plant or a couple more shrimp or something. Each time we find even more tanks with even more beautiful fish to admire. Thank you so much Tim and the rest of RBA! You have certainly made us customers for life!
I had been complaining to one of my clients about how I wanted to set up a new tank but the selection of fresh water plants and fish was absolutely terrible. He said why not go to that rock beach place, never heard about it. Went the same day, couldn't believe the amount of selection, the easy pace atmosphere that doesn't feel like a normal store. Been a customer for two years and have yet to set foot in any other pet store since.
Hands down best aquatics shop I have been to. Everyone is super friendly and able to answer any question you may have. They got me started on breeding endler guppies and I must say I am beyond obsessed
