Thank you to the ER Doc and nurses who actually helped with my child’s broken arm, and to the fantastic ortho/sports medicine Doc B and Jenn for taking the initiative and time to make the right treatment decision for my child's needs. I appreciate immensely the help and concern for the kiddo's best interests. I also have a fantastic Pediatric Nuerologist in our care team and I cannot say enough about the these fantastic humans at this hospital.
As new parents dealing with the stress of our first born being life flighted down to this hospital from a hospital that couldn't even put an IV in. I would highly recommend this hospital. The nurse, doctors, and all the employees and services have been phenomenal. They have taken such good care of out little guy! If you are in an area that does not have the resources you need, this a very very good option! Thank you Rocky Mountain Hospital For Children!
The best hospital hands down They were angels sent to us! Thank you to each and every one of the nurses and doctors that helped my son Romeo is so grateful with each and every one of you!! The sweetest kindness staff ever
My brother had a seizure, literally almost died. We’re also from out of town but when we first walked into this hospital brother was flown by helicopter to PICU the nurses were so welcoming and friendly keep in mind this was at 2AM. A nurse named Lee came over to us, making sure we were okay and got us some water. They treated him right away by getting him MRI scans, the doctors were patient and answered any and all questions we had. The room had a pull-out bed for parents and gave us blankets and pillows for the night. When they found out we were out of town, they gave us gift cards to the cafeteria! I wouldn’t want to go to any other hospital.
I have taken my children here multiple times and the care is decent but the billing department is HORRIBLE! They charge any ER visit as an L3 at $5300 minimum this is over twice the national average for a subpar facility. All the doctor did was give my kid some Benadryl. When you try to dispute them coding it as an L3 visit they just send you to collections so they won't have to deal with it. They really need to charge every ER visit as an L1 $800 unless it truly is an L3 visit. I will never bring my family here ever again.
NICU: Incredible, I can't believe the level of care that they give. The ER doctors, specialists, nurses, everyone was great. Pediatric Neurology: Incredible, I always felt informed and in good care. ER: Would never take my children here. Left for hours alone in a room on our own oxygen, never hooked up to room oxygen, I could not feed my daughter orally because she had a feeding tube. It came out and that's the reason we came in but they never fed her over 11 hours 3 hours in one hospital that couldn't handle the tube, 8 hours here, never gave her medicine also was supposed to be via tube. I think maybe even after reminding them multiple times about all of this that maybe they're understaffed. Or maybe it was RSV putting pressure on this ER. But we never had these issues at Children's Aurora, and they were also dealing with the same surge in RSV, etc. So we transferred all care to that hospital, even though we loved the NICU and Pediatric Neurology team at RMHC. Billing: Get ready for a ride. Every ER doctor and specialist has their own bespoke third party medical billing system. So you're going to get a bill from the hospital, a bill for EVERY doctor that you saw, and every specialist, and those all might come from a different billing company. And only the hospital's billing gets the claim right generally. The rest have screwed it up every time, and send us a bill even though I met my max out of pocket months ago. If you call them and update your insurance information, somehow they keep screwing it up. I have to call my actual insurance's claims team and get THEM to call the third party billing company to sort it out. It's a nightmare, and it happens on EVERY visit to this hospital's ER. If you can go to Children's Aurora, go there. EDIT: Dropping this to a one star. I keep getting non stop bills from third party medical billing companies that I shouldn't have to pay because I hit max out of pocket so long ago. They keep putting in the claim to the wrong insurance. Just surprise medical bill after surprise medical bill. I got another one today that was the first time I've ever seen this one, and they're telling me it's past due. Now I have to scramble to avoid going to collections over something I shouldn't owe. PSL/RMHC is the perfect spokesperson for a single payer healthcare system.
Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children has taken great care of my daughter and her cleft lip and palate diagnoses for many years. Their whole staff has been nothing but caring, supportive, understanding and intelligent in their recommendations. We have had a few close friends that ended up having cleft palate children who did not initially use this place and wish they had after we recommended they use this clinic and are happy to report satisfaction as well with their child's progress. We are so glad we selected them over 10 years ago and the progress our daughter has made.
My review pertains to the surgical department. First of all I had a very awkward experience with a surgeon who did a basic aspiration of an abscess under general anesthesia back in November 2021 and never healed the issue for my child. Was referred for a ctscan a few weeks later and was told everything looked normal and NO signs of a fistula. Then was suggested by a different surgeon to do an exam under general anesthesia and I declined that because why would I keep putting my child under for no reason? I went to Childrens for a 2nd opnion and they said there should have been MRI done NOT ctscan. So when his infection returned a few months later in Feb we went to Children's to have a better procedure done. Our GI works with this practice and we were referred this time for a more extensive surgery and this surgeon Rothenberg said he would see us. When we arrived it was the WORST office visit I have ever experienced. The doctor was so dismissive and disregarded my son's medical condition. Had zero empathy for the fact that he said he would see us Tues and we traveled an hour just to be told yesterday Thurs that he wouldn't do anything to help my son. He kept saying to just go back to Children's, basically being petty and not putting my son's condition first. What a waste of our time and money not to mention my son could potentially get very sick now and he didn't care at all. Every single provider we have spoke to about my son in other places have been so kind and understanding and this man treated us terribly. What kind of doctor talks down to a concerned mother who is clearly worried about her child?? He over talked me, interrupted me several times and basically controlled the entire conversation and never took even a moment to really listen to me. I would NEVER recommend this doctor or surgical department for that matter to anyone. He acted so arrogant and clearly not in the business of actually wanting to heal people.
We are very grateful for the wonderful doctors, nurses, and other providers that cared for both of our children when they were hospitalized with RSV. As a breastfeeding mom, I also appreciated that my food was complimentary while I stayed with my newborn. This took a lot of stress off of us during a difficult time.
I feel so fortunate to have ended up at this hospital with my daughter. She has been in and out of the PICU 75 days total over the last year and has many many specialist that we were referred to by RMHC. I have had 0 negative experiences and am so very very grateful for everyone that has crossed paths with us. The ER is quick and the doctors and nurses are super caring and friendly. The registration staff is so kind and every single doctor and nurse we have crossed paths with has been an angel on earth. I cannot even begin to say enough wonderful things about the entire staff on the PICU floor. I typically don't trust people with my children, let alone my sick baby, but I instantly felt safe and trusted every single person we encountered. I could go on for days about how wonderful this place is but for now I'll just say that I will never take my children anywhere else.
