The staff here are great, super helpful, and make you feel comfortable during hard times. They really helped me get to a point I felt safe coming back home after a car accident. Foods just ok but you can get a good burger cooked for you if you ask.
My husband was here for 20 months with West Nile Virus, paralyzed and deaf. They took such good care of him and really worked with us to get him to the next rehab hospital. From Dr. Dreiling and Dr. Yaeger, to all of the Nursing Staff, Respiratory Therapists, Physical Therapists and Case Mgmt. they ALL took good care of him and made him comfortable. They kept his spirits positive and helped move him forward. It may need a bit of remodeling but do not let that deter you from the care they give there. That's the most important.
I have nothing but positive things to say about Kindred. I have been a patient for well over a year, waiting for my tracheal stenosis surgery. As a problematic trachea, I require help availability 24 hours a day. Within the last week I have had a severe case where my tracheal tube was plugged with mucous. I was lucky to be taken care of by a professional and talented staff. Dr. Dreiling and Dr Yaeger have been phenomenal. Dr. Dreiling spends a lot of time talking and discussing my care. When my insurance company wanted to transfer me to a SNF before my surgery, Dr Dreiling did what she could to keep me here, where I felt safe and cared for. The respiratory therapists along with the nursing and CNA staff members have been a blessing. Additionally, I have been working with PT to gain strength in my legs, so I can walk again. I also want to point out that I have been working with the clinical dietician, Zaira, to lose weight. When I started my weight loss journey, I weighed 599 and as of May 10, 2023, I weighed 441. I am also happy to say that when my husband became sick, he was transferred to Kindred hospital and now I can rest easy knowing that he is also getting the best of the best care. To close, I want to say what an awesome experience it has been. I know that Kindred is preparing me to be healthy and able to return home in better health than when I started. Sincerely, David M. Thank you Dr. Schwanebeck also the PT and OT staff. My husbands recovery was Due to the excellent care and compassion that each of you showed him. Again thank you so much .
My Son was flight lifted to kindred with a TBI in April of 2022 kindred was our home for the next 5 months before moving on to the next level. There was some moments I had issues and when I expressed my feelings I was heard! Philip and Gina are Amazing they listen and advocate for the patient and family!! The respiratory rehab he received was phenomenal... Traveling nurses make it hard to know the patient well but he had some AMAZING travelers that I was blessed with staying in touch. his regular nurses were AMAZING in advocating for his needs and treated him as he was there family Thank you EVERYONE at kindred of Denver
This place is a total dump. University hospital insisted we take my grandfather here instead of Vibra. I wish we would have done our research better... they neglected my grandfather. Left him sitting for hours in his own feces. Treated him with no dignity at all. I don't know if any of these places are better but this one has to be the absolute wlrat!!!
I’m unimpressed. The nurses take hours to check on a patient. Every time I’m here, hours pass, and nobody checks on my husband. I don’t care how short staffed you are, you have time to check on patients every hour. Why do I have to instruct a nurse to put a bandage on an open wound, instead of leaving it open to air?! Why do I have to instruct a nurse to relieve pressure from a pressure wound?! 2-3 nurses per floor, plus aides, from what I can tell, and mostly they sit at the desk. CHECK ON PATIENTS! Ask them if they need anything, they probably do, it’s been HOURS! Family members shouldn’t have to find staff to get what patients need. This is unacceptable. My husband is recovering from a stroke, he can’t do things by himself yet, and he is left for hours. What is going on at this facility?! Terrible management? Poor training? Have they given up? All of the above?! I have left a message with the case manager, and had a respectful, but stern conversation with a few nurses. This place definitely needs everyone to be retrained. Unacceptable on every level. If anyone is told they are being transferred here, say NO, and ask for anywhere else. Edit: The people in positions of power; Nathan CEO,and Julie case manager seem to genuinely care about the quality of care people receive at Kindred. We will see if actions from staff back up the words, but it was nice to feel heard.
I'm not impressed with this facility. My father has been here for 4 plus months. He is paralyzed, has a bed sore because he isn't being moved like he should. There should be no reason for this. We were told he was gonna have physical therapy 3x a week. It's not happening, his hands are so stiff. I was told they're not moving him to a chair due to the bed sore & on bed rest. He's had it 4 months. It's still not healed. When I call I rarely get someone to answer. I was told he's breathing on his own and off the ventilator by one nurse then a month later a different nurse tells me he's been on a ventilator since he arrived. Not sure how hard it is to read his charts! I visited him a few weeks ago was there 4 hrs and respiratory never came when paged to cap his trach so I could attempt to hear him speak. Reading his lips isn't very easy. There is 1 nurse Katie that was very informative, loved her! I'm very frustrated with his care at this point.
I won't share the horrid details. We're lucky our loved one made it out alive after 10 days, even it was in an ambulance to hospital. Negligent, careless, uncompassionate are just the beginning these are results of overworked, overloaded, shorthanded, unappreciated employees. The problems here end with the care but start with the top leadership - they just done care about the people in their care, whether they live or die is just matter of fact, they take no responsibility. Nurses ignore patient requests for help, routinely. I would never send anyone I love here, especially if they can't protect themselves.
My brother was in rehab on 2nd floor for several days. When he arrived he was unable to walk or lift himself. He was able to do those things when he left, so the nursing staff & therapists did their jobs very well. However, several items of my brother's clothing went missing during his stay & were never found prior to his departure. One of the nurses said several patients on 2nd floor reported missing clothing. So there's definitely an issue relating to the laundry service that needs to be resolved. It's advisable to photo & make a list of all clothing brought to the facility & value for tracking purposes & reimbursement, if that's something the facility would even do. My brother's clothes are a loss we'll just have to take but hopefully you will be spared the same inconvenience.
