General sense of disarray and indifference in the maternity ward. Go elsewhere if you have that option. And I'm not just saying this. You'll never find more inept nurses in what is supposed to be a top notch hospital. On 3 different occasions my wife had to ask for formula multiple times. She waited over 40 minutes each of those times. On one occasion when she was in active labor they allowed her epidural pump run bone dry for over 25 minutes. She went from little to no pain to terrible pain. I finally had to practically tell the staff that they were almost useless. And if you are the father many of the nurses like to make snide, smart mouthed comments to try and make you feel like you aren't really a part of what's going on. While we were there for our first child two years ago she lost 9% body weight because the expert wet behind the ears nurses refused to do anything but practically shame my wife because our daughter wouldn't latch. Even the lactation consultants made it seem as if all she needed was a couple drops a day of food and then shamed my wife more. Turns out she wouldn't latch because she had a severe tongue and lip tie that our regular pediatrician found on one of her first appointments. Some doctors. Every one of them missed it completely. We ended up having to pay a specialized dentist over $600 to fix the issue that would have been covered 100% by our insurance if one of the doctors in that quack factory hospital simply done their job. And, my daughter might not have had to deal with being practically starved until we got out. Honestly, if you want your baby to have a happy and healthy start to their life, don't give birth at this quack factory. Choose another hospital. WVU healthcare is a joke. Most of the staff here absolutely don't have your or your baby's best interest in mind at all.
Came to visit my sick mother. I’ve been standing in line outside for over 20 minutes just to get checked in. There are about 40 people ahead of me. The lady beside me is trying to get upstairs to see her daughter before brain surgery. This is absolutely ridiculous! I worked at this hospital for a decade and it’s worse now than it was 10 years ago. I only gave you 1 star because it made me. It’s also cold and raining. Do better!!!
Worst place I’ve ever been, the staff make you wait in your room for hours with no update. They do not care about there patients AND the NICU does not properly care for your baby. Don’t be surprised if they call cps on you for no reason such as not visiting enough even though we were there multiple times everyday. They are also responsible for the death of my daughter. I also felt like a test subject because they had students doing the epidurals which were painful instead of an actual anesthesiologist, just save your time and heart ache and find a better hospital.
Waited 7.5 hours to be seen by a doctor for 10 minutes only to be told that my I was not considered an emergency or sick enough to be treated. Also that my new onset worsening symptoms were not considered acute and where chronic so the doctor felt she did not have to treat them. I left feeling worse than when I arrived and they made me feel that unless, I was dying I had no business there. Don’t waste your time or your money here. Literally go anywhere else.
This hospital was listed as a top notch amazing hospital to bring kids. My daughter was sent there by helicopter, they left her in a room for 2 hours without any treatment. Did Not do any scans of her head after rolling her truck. Then they discharged her while I was still 3 hours away trying to get to her. The performance of this hospital is ridiculous and unacceptable!!!
Let's say I had an eventful stay. I'm a fair and honest person who believes in integrity. Even though, I admit I can be difficult to deal with at times it still doesn't justify the treatment I was subjected to. An irreplaceable item was stolen from my assigned admitted room while I was showering. I'm left speechless. Also, prior to while in ICU I became the recipient of abuse during a physical altercation. My sense of personal security had been greatly diminished by that point. Until a nurse named Heather came to my aid. Her presence dramatically reassured me that true caregiving behavior does exist. Never had I been cared for by a person of such unique, rare angelic design. Words hardly express my praise and gratitude for her comforting aid. I hope she reads this. You are irreplaceable, and possess no equal. Thank You
As a citizen of the United States, I love my freedom, and my job with a passion, but wvu medicine is the only hospital I know that is still forcing their employers and customers to wear a mask that don't work majority of the time. I get sick and tired of having security tossing a mask at my face or people giving me evil looks if I don't wear one. We're all vaccinated and boosted. It's 2022. What's the point of wearing a mask!?
Hip surgery for my wife was terrible. Extremely bad bedside manner. Making harsh remarks to me and her. No explanations for what to expect at home. They sent her home the same day, expecting to walk out on crutches. A 3 hour surgery was done in an hour. My wife immediately woke up in such pain she screamed in horror. Since they judged her for being in a methadone clinic, they went against their hippocratic oath to help the patient to leave her in pain. Or maybe I'm just venting for everyone else's experience there.
Very Impressed with this Hospital. The Love Care and Compassion is Amazing. Everyone Works Together With Respect a Team. THANK YOU Ruby Memorial Hospital for taking the Best Care of My Partner. Very Grateful.
I broke my ankle and was taken to the emergency department via ambulance. The tests were perhaps excessive and there was a delay in my hospital room being ready. Overall, I felt well attended-to and received prompt care.
