The Collaborative Center for Community-Based Research and Service - formerly known as Civic Engagement & Service Education Partnership Program (CESEP)
The Collaborative, a Center for Community-Based Learning, Service, and Public Scholarship is committed to supporting campus-community collaborations that advance the public good for the state of NJ and beyond.
We accomplish our mission by creating structured opportunities designed to connect faculty, students and community organizations in a collaborative process that translates academic knowledge, promotes civic responsibility and leads to positive social change. Through service-learning credit-bearing courses and research with a public purpose, engaged scholarship recognizes the multiple ways of knowing and acting that shape sustainable university and community partnerships directed toward action on public issues.
The Collaborative offers a unique space where scholarly and creative work are jointly planned and carried out by faculty, staff students and community partners. Through Center programs the university currently engages in various projects that include among others social justice issues, literacy, food security, health, the environment, mentoring, and artistic, cultural and critical engagement.
