PALS provides English language instruction to non-native English speakers for academic, professional, business, and social/acculturation purposes.
The Program in American Language Studies (PALS-NB) is a specially designed program taking care of the English Language needs of international students. It is housed in the English Department of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. With a successful track record of nearly 35 years, PALS-NB program goes beyond mere language instruction. In addition to offering its students a high quality-competency based curriculum, it endeavors to build cultural sensitivity and enhance constructive leadership in the global community.
PALS-NB faculty is highly trained instructors with advanced educational degrees. The instructors are competent, creative and compassionate ESL professionals.
Accredited by UCIEP, AAIEP & CEA, PALS-NB serves around 1000 students a year from over 35 countries.
PALS-NB, Rutgers University is conveniently situated between New York City and Philadelphia. In addition, PALS-NB is close to theaters, cultural centers, and restaurants. PALS-NB students have access to university social and cultural activities such as clubs, films, plays, fitness centers and student centers where they get an opportunity to interact with other students.
PALS-NB strives not only to foster students' language competency in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, but also to develop students' cultural understanding of the world at large and in particular, of the United States. Through its activities, PALS-NB aspires to be the brand ambassador for Rutgers International and, assist Rutgers University in paying back to the State and the community.
