SRHC is a non-profit health clinic that provides free medical/health education services to residents of Southeast Missouri who otherwise have no access.
Samaritan Regional Health Clinic is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization and a free clinic, devoted to making a difference in the Cape Girardeau County. We provide free, quality medical services that benefit community residents who are disadvantaged, cannot afford health insurance and do not qualify for Medicare/Medicaid. Many of our patients come from populations with incomes below the poverty level; the 2010 statistics showed 15.2% of Cape Girardeau residents live in poverty and another 7.3% are unemployed – an increase from 5.6% in 2008.
The idea of a free clinic in Cape Girardeau is based on a public health community capacity/strength-oriented approach; this approach emphasizes how other existing competencies in the community (community members and local organizations) can meaningfully collaborate and participate in bringing about solutions to the needs of its own residents. This important work is supported largely by generous donors who contribute to our annual capital campaign. This year's goal is $50,000, which will allow Samaritan Regional Health Clinic to continue providing much needed services to those in our community who are in need of medical assistance and who cannot afford these services; without the continued support of generous donors like you, these needs will likely go unmet.
By making tax deductible donations to the clinic’s capital campaign, individuals and organizations directly contribute to the well-being of people struggling to cope with diseases like diabetes, hypertension, respiratory infections, etc. Additionally, these individuals and organizations are recognized for their generosity as a capital supporter on the clinic’s website and in our newsletters.
