We stayed when this resort was the Sands and it was fine. Expected the same! What a wonderful surprise! The casino was beautiful, rooms were outstanding! Customer service was awesome!! We stayed 6 days and have no complaints at all!. Housekeeping gets a big shout out as they went above and beyond to ensure we had everything needed or wanted. We will be back!.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!! They did an awesome job with this place! It was new and clean and just so nice. I loved our room. We had a fride & microwave that made my day! I was able to keep my drinks cold & warm my food up! The bathroom didn't have those tiny bottles of shampoo, conditioner & lotion they actually had full-size dispensers. That was nice. The pool area was small and quaint. The bartender was nice talkative and friendly. The only downside was that it was card only. Overall we had a wonderful experience & that will be our new hotel of choice when we visit Reno.
Greeted at the buffet by Brittani P and Cassandra. They made us feel so welcome. Very cheerful and happy staff. Our room was spacious and lovely but we don't know why there's a resort fee and what's included. There's an outdoor pool, but it's raining, so what's the resort fee for? One other piece of feedback- during the remodel- put signage outdoors about Hotel Registration. We drove all around the hotel looking for a sign.
This resort was just awesome! The Aspen King room was very roomy with nice decor. The entire staff that we had interacted were friendly and always a smile! J Paul's Italian Steakhouse was fantastic..especially with our waiter David. What a great guy!! And on top of everything, my husband and I both won great jackpots..enough and more to cover our weekend trip! We will be back again soon!! Thank you so much!! Walkability: The casino was easy to navigate as well as close to the heart of Reno. We also very much appreciated the garage parking and easy access to everything!
I'm leaving the j resort after a two night stay and I'm really disappointed in the quality of service we've had during our stay. Waking up after the first night, I realized that my door was open about 6 inches. While I was sleeping, house keeping opened my door and instead of closing it when they saw someone was still there, they left the door open. I told the front desk about this and he said he was going to have a talk with his staff. Later when I was getting ready someone knocked at the door and opened it so quickly I barely had time to walk to the door and open it. It was housekeeping and she asked if I needed anything. I said no. Then she said "no towels?" So I said "sure, I'll take some towels" and then she never brought the towels. I told the front desk and he said he would get back to us on the outcome of all this. We haven't heard anything since. I understand housekeeping is doing their job but there's a reasonable expectation of privacy staying in hotels. They could've at least not left the door open while I was sleeping.
BUFFET Review: 5 stars Always stayed here before when it was the Sands. Not real sure about it now. Too much construction for me. We did go and have dinner in the buffet. What a nice improvement. My husband was skeptical since it wasn't too good in the past. We were both very pleased and impressed with the food and service. All of the staff were friendly and very helpful. They were great clearing the tables and tending to the patrons. Hubby was so impressed he went to the cashier and gave high accolades and left a big tip for the workers. We will definitely come back to eat. Downstairs "restaurant" review: 0 stars F.Y.I. We had gone to the sit-down restaurant downstairs for lunch the next day and the experience was horrible. We were seated right away and soon brought water being told our server would be right over to take our order. We sat and sat and sat with nobody coming. The place was not busy and there were "staff" walking by our table giving us eye contact. We were sitting near the middle of the dining area so we were visable to all. I noticed other people coming in and being served. We sat there a good 20 minutes and I had enough of being ignored and got up and asked 2 gentlemen who were there before us if they had had their orders taken. They too were waiting for their food to come. At that point we just got up and left. This sure wasn't how Mel's treated their customers!!! We ended up just grabbing a sandwich at the little take 'n go eatery next to the restaurant. Not quite the lunch we had hoped for. A note to the Manager Team.....TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES!!!!
Very friendly staff helped us sign up for new players cards. He also told us we could get $5 each off the buffet. The buffet was really good the prime rib was so good & the loaded bake potato. The buffet has Seafood, Mexican food & they have a big selection of desserts & ice cream with toppings. Will probably stay there next time we are in town nice casino too.
I do like this casino's aside the higher prices machines for overall minimum bet.. You can find the cheaper ones but definitely takes some effort. Also a few of the machines being multi-denominational you can easily over bet and not realize you've done it. Definitely come a long, long way from the previous casino. Will definitely come back and get a room. Rooms: Beautiful rooms, kitchenette style including sink. Not a far distance from the elevator ever. Walkability: I myself am handicapped and this hotel allows me to never feel lost or overexerted by getting to anywhere.
I really like this place. I was visiting Yosemite and booked two separate nights, one night for my flight into Reno and one night for my flight out of Reno. They were very short stays since my flight coming in was very late and my flight flying out was also late but the time in the hotel was great. I booked a Premium King room and there was plenty of space, it was updated and clean and had a kitchen-esque area. Since it was a short stay I only showered and slept there. Granted there is a resort fee, but even with that fee the total price was $60 for the first night and $80 for the second night. Check-in was quick and easy. Parking was free and convenient. I was worried about navigating the parking garage and the casino but the elevator from the parking garage to the lobby to the hotel room were all in the same area. All in all, if you-re looking for a quick stay I would recommend this place.
