We were too late in the game to get a spot near the beaches, but this was an ok home base for our visiting purposes. They are in the process of adding really good upgrades like a game room, exercise room, a club room and a pool. None of that was finished while we were there but will make nice, needed amenities once complete. They do have a good playground and open space. The sites were fine, mostly large gravel and big pieces of blacktop in sand. Some trees in a few spots might be too low for some big rigs. It was quiet, we only spoke with one couple who left the day after we arrived Sunday. There does not appear to be an age limit on RVs and I'd say most of the people there are long term residents. They have RV storage in the back of the park. A small highway runs along the entry side of the park so there is considerable road noise. Each site had a VERY LOW picnic table that would be difficult for older people to utilize, and an enclosed fire ring. DeFuniak Springs is a small town with lots of charm downtown and we have that a day of exploring, but we made the 30 minute drive almost everyday of our week long stay to Blue Mountain Beach and that was just lovely.
Nice well maintained RV park. Level and wide sites. Great place for going to Panama City Beach and Fort Walton/Destin areas. You may drive a little but worth it.Location: 5/5
Just off I-10, easy to find. Small park and the customer service was great. The 50 amp was a little sketchy however they were quick to resolve the issue. Work out and game room, new amenities. Price was reasonable.
Hi , My wife and I stayed here in May of 2022. We had a great two weeks. The young man and young lady that takes care of the park were awsome and I didn't even use my shower because the bath house was great, CLEAN and HOT showers. We definitely will be back in 2023 . Oh yea nice and quiet .thank you to the young couple that ran the place. Y'all did a great job.
Needed advice on plumbing issue, but campsite thought I was a predator, I guess. It was raining, just trying to talk with someone who had RV experience. Just wanting to see how hook-ups were supposed to be done. Had attempted to go to office first, but sign indicated not open to public. All is well, RV technicians finally available. God knows how to accommodate and bless! Thank you, Jesus! My Savior and my example!
It's a wonderful place clean beyond measure. There's is a park for your Dod,a park for the kids, lots of stuff to do. The bathrooms are so clean and smell great We love it here. Come check it out Allyssa is the best camp host I have meet. We really enjoy Sapphire Island it's really nice we keep watching all the campers that come and go there's so many
The atmosphere was beautiful. The food was cooked to perfection. Waitress wS very nice and polite. I will be going back there to eat. All those who haven't tried this place must surely go.
Small and quiet campground. Pet friendly. Clean bath houses and friendly and accommodating management. Fast and reliable internet. Easy pull through sites. I have stayed at sapphire island several times. It has been a great. Close to south Walton but away from the crowds. Highly recommend.
Sapphire Island has potential to be a nice campground. Right now it is sufficient for a stop along your trip, especially for the price. Pros: The section of sites we stayed in were large with trees for shade and plenty of room between RVs. There is a fenced in area for dogs to run off-leash, a large grassy area for children to run and play, and a nice little playground. They also have a volleyball net and horseshoes. It was quiet other than some highway noise which we are used to personally, but may bother some. It is just minutes from shopping and restaurants. If you are camping with your dog Panama City Pier Park Dog Beach was only about 40 minutes away. Other public beaches are also less than an hour drive from here. And, though there were only 2 showers/restrooms, the bathhouse was very nice and clean. Though we didn't use it, there is a large pavilion and some nice deck chairs behind where the new office is being built. Cons General: The site says "Our friendly site host will come by and visit you and answer any questions and provided you with local information needed." No one ever came out. We never did see the camp host during our stay. They could use a new layer of gravel. Our spot was more dirt and crushed asphalt, which made a bit of a mess in the camper, but nothing a broom and vacuum couldn't fix. And, as I mentioned before, the road noise may be a problem to someone not used to it. Cons personal experience: Apparently they changed us to a different site than what we had booked, which is fine, but they didn't let us know. When we got there and found someone else in our booked spot, my husband called the number on the website to ask where we should go. The lady who answered was not friendly at all and made us sound dumb for asking. Of course, it could have just been an off day, or sometimes its hard to read people's emotions over the phone. But either way, we got our spot fairly quickly. I think once the new office and attached amenities get finished it will be a nice little place.
We stayed here for one night. Camp host Alyssa was friendly and accommodating. Nice, level, spacious site. Priced matched what we got. Close to I-10, but be warned if you exit off I-10 W, turning left onto 331 S is no small feat when towing a big fifth wheel. Considerable noise from 331, but not enough that it kept us up. Great little off-leash area for your pupper. Grounds are clearly well cared-for, site raked. Would stay again.
