SchoolGrounds Coffee House and David A Morrow Gallery

Description

Nope, we didn’t invent the coffee house. What we did do is invent an experience for those looking for just a little more. Those who’d like to find the fuel and inspiration to pursue their passions, both personal and professional.

The ingredients are simple, but robust. We started with an idea: a vintage school house location nestled right off I-94, just east of Madison in Cottage Grove, WI. Perfect, right? And here’s the best part: we stirred it into a fine blend of coffee, food, art, music and conversation, with a dollop of outstanding service, giving it a compelling uniqueness you simply won’t find anywhere else.

Our coffee is served with the pride of knowing we offer consistently excellent quality and flavor through expert blending and roasting beyond anything outside of Seattle.

Our art gallery offerings are local and regional. And the stimulating conversation is up to you, but we’re always happy to join in.

We invite you to make it your personal place of empowerment, revitalization, productivity and excitement about life - as a solo escape, or your gathering place with friends and colleagues.

Welcome to SchoolGrounds Coffee House - Stop for coffee. Stay inspired.

I've driven by this place for years but never stopped in until my last trip back home to Wisconsin. The place is small and quaint with lots of artwork along with a gallery. They have a nice coffee selection and some breakfast food items and baked goods as well. They do different events throughout the week featuring different food options as well. Everything we had here was delicious and the service was excellent. I will definitely be back the next time I am in Cottage Grove.
Neat little place. I'm not a coffee drinker but my wife said it was good. My iced tea was fine. We got a few goodies and everything was good. A little "heavy" on the crust for the square pie but maybe it's just me. Super friendly folks too. :
Incredible service and such a cozy, unique atmosphere! We were greeted with a warm welcome at the door by the owner. We unknowingly came at closing time and they insisted to still whip us up some lattes. The baked goods looks delicious as well. We will most definitely be back!
I just love this spot! First off, if you couldn't guess... the cafe is an old school house! Super cute. The workers are always so friendly and helpful. I love love love their frittata! Being gluten free I am semi-limited with my food selections. But even if I wasn't gluten free, I'd go for the frittata every single time! If you find yourself in the area, stop on over! You won't regret it!
A rare gem of a coffee shop. This place quite literally has it all. The service is top notch. They go out of there way to talk to you and genuinely show interest in you. The coffee, fantastic. Best I’ve had in Madison area since moving to the area 4 years ago. The food, terrific. I’ve had their scones and breakfast sandwiches and both had me wanting more. Lastly, the vibe here is truly wonderful. Feels like you’re stepping into a museum but where you get to hang out and drink lattes. They also have outdoor eating and life concerts in the warmer months. Go out of your way to come here. Make a date out of it. Whatever it takes. You won’t be disappointed!
We stopped here on a whim for a quick cup of coffee. I was floored at first, the building itself is so cool and historic! And inside, the decorations and setup are very creative and comforting. The coffee itself was tasty and so are the pastries. The man behind the counter was so incredibly kind and gave great suggestions. Come here if you have the chance, you wont regret it!
This place was amazing. And that is an understatement. The food was spectacular, but even better than that was the people. David, Peyton, and the mother who name I forget my apologies were so friendly and inviting that I am already planning my next trip. The coffee was superb and the eagles were perfect. David came by or tablet and chatted with us. Will be back as soon as possible.
Great spot with owners that care about every detail. Definitely recommend stopping in for a relaxing morning or even a quick cup of coffee
This coffee shops has great ambiance and decor. The baristas also provided excellent service. However, the espresso just wasn't for me. It was VERY strong. Don't get me wrong, I love some strong coffee, but this was almost burnt and undrinkable. Maybe the shots weren't pulling right? I want this place to be awesome, and at some point will probably stop and try it again.
I love this place! It has a wonderful, laid-back atmosphere. The people who work here are super friendly and helpful every time I've been here. I usually stop for coffee and a scone, but I finally had their fresh, homemade savory crepes on Saturday morning. I will have to go back another Saturday to try the sweet version, as well as a Friday night for the live music. ... It's just off I-94, Exit 244, and so worth the stop!
