Clayton and Cassey were amazing. We could not have asked for better people to work with us over the planning of our sister's Celebration of Life service. I would and will recommend this place and these gentleman for anyone that is having to go through a loss and needs help and guidance with making the arrangements for a loved one. These gentleman truly care about the families and community they serve. Thanks to all the staff at Scoggins you are truly appreciated!
I recently contacted Scoggins to inquire about printing prayer cards for my Mother. I failed to request cards be printed when she was taken care of by another funeral home in Louisville, KY and was scrambling to expedite. To my astonishment, Clayton offered to not only quickly print, but managed to have them ready the day of my request, and pro bono! Words cannot express my gratitude for the kindness provided!
We recently lost our 9 year-old daughter and from the time we met Mr. Scoggins we knew she would be taken care of like his own. He made us feel so comfortable. He was very personable and genuinely cared about the grief that we were going through. He made our difficult journey a little easier and we knew everything would be taken care of. Clayton was so wonderful in helping us identify where she would be laid to rest and both of them were with us through this journey and beyond. It seems strange to recommend a funeral home but we can stay without hesitation that Scoggins Funeral Home was outstanding! We so appreciate their compassion, caring and genuine care for our daughter and family. "Thank you" is not enough for what they did!!
Our son was stillborn recently and as you might imagine, the shock and grief was enormous for our family. Being new to the DFW area, we did not have a preferred funeral home and I dreaded calling around to various places to repeatedly explain our situation. A couple nurses who lived in Van Alstyne area recommended Scoggins so they were one of my first calls. After the initial phone conversation, I knew our search for a funeral home was over. From the very beginning, the staff was extremely patient, responsive, and compassionate. Clayton explained the entire cremation process clearly and followed up with me regularly up until the day of cremation. My family is grateful for the staff at Scoggins.
UPDATE!!! Once again the team at Scoggin's provided amazing service with kindness and compassion! They recently handled my mother's Sudie Duffee service and burial and did an amazing job. There are not enough words to express our gratitude for them! Highly recommend them! My family was referred to Scoggins by a local cemetery when my father recently passed away. Tommy Scoggins and his staff were friendly, kind, compassionate and professional from start to finish. They handled everything with the sensitivity and ease needed in the difficult area of death. The day we went in to select a casket, sign documents and complete details was very difficult. We never felt rushed or prodded or that is was "business as usual". All the logistics were clear and they took time to explain everything in detail. They also contacted the VA to make arrangements for military honors for our Dad, a Korean War veteran. They definitely took our feelings and emotions seriously and that was so appreciated! Clayton was our main contact and he took care of everything on the day of the service. The video of the service Clayton does was also outstanding and allowed those who were not able to attend to be a part of the service. Thank you Scoggins! You truly made a difference during such a difficult time! Travis Duffee Family
It is always hard to say goodbye to a loved one, but especially now during all of the uncertainty in our country. Tommy and the staff at Scoggins Funeral Home are some of the best I have ever had the privilege to work with. They made it so easy for my mother and I to take care of our Anna, from putting up with us delaying the service to changing our mind what type we wanted to have, they where always there with a caring heart. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, in this day of corporate takeovers of the smaller hometown funeral homes it is good to see that the caring and family values can still be found.
When we lost our son Nathan, Scoggins Funeral Home was so supportive and caring. They went above and beyond to ensure funeral arrangements were done to our family's needs. They made sure we had a pleasant experience. The Funeral Director, Derek Smith, is so compassionate and respectful. He made sure everything was done to our wishes. Derek Smith and the entire staff at Scoggins are superb! I highly recommend them. They will take care of your loved ones.
The Owners and Staff of Scoggins Funeral Home were very compassionate, and were so helpful to our family in our recent loss of our loved one. They understand that making funeral arrangements can be a daunting task. Clayton really made this hard time a very easy one. Very professional and very friendly. This was the first time I had to do something like this on my own. The funeral home made this very easy for. They are by your side every step of the way to help ease the burden.
*PLEASE READ- HONEST REVIEW* Scoggins Funeral home took care of our family during a very difficult time. We lost our son at 21 weeks and they were so kind to us. They were amazing. They really care about the families that they are helping. Clayton set up such a beautiful service for our son in a short time frame. Our son died April 8th, 2019, and we had the service on April 12th. Clayton was in constant contact with our friend who helped us set up the funeral. Clayton walked us through everything with kindness and patience. He was so attentive to our needs and had the hospital paperwork expedited so that we could take our son's ashes home with us afterwards. Clayton did not miss any details and everything was beautifully done. The program was well made. The florist who created the arrangements were perfect. The online obituary page and tribute wall were well done. He connected us with a Pastor for our son's service as well. You can tell he loves what he does and loves helping families, it shows in the amount of detail he takes in making everything perfect. I felt he went above and beyond to help us. The funeral home was so clean and lovingly decorated, and the crematory was also bright and clean. The chapel was warm and bright, and overall the feeling from the funeral home was calming. We felt safe and assured having Scoggins Funeral Home take care of our baby. We spoke with the owner, Tommy Scoggins, he has a big hearted personality- he just wanted to help us have a beautiful service for our baby son. I am so thankful for these angels. They helped us get through a very difficult time. We don't know how we could have gotten through coordinating a funeral for our son, but with the guidance from Scoggins Funeral Home, we did. They took care of our dear son as if they were taking care of family. I highly recommend them for their kindness, warmth, and attention to detail. Thank you, Scoggins Funeral Home for taking care of our family.
Our daughter passed after fighting hard in the NICU for 26 days she was born at 25 weeks, and when given options for funeral homes Scoggins was the option closest to home. From day one of working with them they were so giving and caring. They understood our situation and worked closely with us to chose who did the service, what songs played, what pictures were shown, what to put in the program etc. It was something my husband and I had no idea about, I remember we walked in and told them that we had no clue what we were doing and they took care of as much as they could without needing our input. I was extremely impressed with how much they did for us and all that they took care of. They cared for our baby girl very well and helped us lay her to rest and I am forever thankful.
