People voting 5 stars work for the company. I'd rate it 0 stars if I could. I've been here for 2 years. Once you don't follow the doctor's opinion, they'll call CPS on you. If you want to be transferred to another facility, they will deny you. Once you don't go along with their plan of care, they'll say you have no voice in advocacy. Bad hospital. The picture was when the hospital didn't want to change the dressing but ICU Nurse changed it right away
The people in ER are so wonderful. My daughter is 18months and had something stuck on her pupil, so you can imagine how difficult it would be to pin down a baby to get it removed. They were knowledgeable, professional and very sweet to my girl. We were there for 2 1/2 hours with the procedure alone took less than 10 min. I’m very grateful
Dr. Kristina in ophthalmology and her staff were amazing. From the beginning her medical assistant made my 4 y.o. feel comfortable and she was able to perform all the tests without a fight. I would highly recommend
I am a patient at this hospital, and I would say to try and go somewhere else, at whatever cost. I was 12 and suffering with severe chronic pain, and on the very first visit, we thought I was going to meet with my care doctor, but no, I met with a doctor's assistant. We brushed that aside and took up the plan that they put in place. I had many tests that pulled up with no results that were invasive like a colonoscopy, which all came up with nothing. I will still bedridden from pain, and one of my assistant doctors assigned us a procedure, and we took the trek up to Seattle driving 6 hours to get it done. On the day of the procedure we learned that my main doctor did not want to do this procedure on the day of but we decided to do it anyway. They somehow "lost" or "misplaced" the results of the tests for 3 months, but after a lot of calls from us, a random doctor who wasn't even supposed to look at it reviewed it and saw that I had Crohn's Disease. I would give it 1 star, but the fact that they diagnosed it brings it up 1. Every few years I have routine colonoscopy's, and every time their instructions are unclear, and I have to wait for a few hours for the doctors to get ready, making my stress stomach pain worse. Most of my doctors have been good and nurses but just the way they do things is disappointing and annoying. You need to schedule the procedures even though they recommend them. One year, I decided to not do a colonoscopy and my parents canceled that procedure, and CPS was called on us. We cannot get referred to another hospital, and this is the best one there is for pediatric care in my immediate area. I hate to say that this is your best, and worst, option.
My son was transfered by ambulance to Children's late at night. The nurses checked us in immediately and got us settled in the emergency room. They were sweet and even brought us a big tray of snacks and food. They informed us that there were no rooms available upstairs and we would have to wait until morning. That was the only uncomfortable part. We had no blankets, pillows and we were up for more then 24 hrs with an extremely sick baby. We got admitted the next morning. That room was our home for the next 5 days. Doctors and nurses worked endlessy and gave AMAZING care to our son. In the end he was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease. Because of the doctors and nurses my son will not have long term side effects. This hospital is amazing.
My baby was a preemie and transferred to children’s due to health issues. I liked a few of the day shift nurses. But, there are a few nurses who are rude and unprofessional. There were a few times the nurses looked so annoyed they had to hold my daughter, right when I walked in they were like “you can hold her if you want”. Like can I settle down first? I also knew how to grab her myself… I came to see my baby one day, and she wasn’t even wrapped in the blanket correctly. Her diaper was hanging off, her back was all wet from her pee, and she was shivering like crazy! Her hands were ice cold. The little girl my daughter was sharing room with was crying for ten minutes straight and her heart rate was spiking because of her anger. No one came for those ten minutes. I felt so bad I wanted to hold her myself! Then the nurse had the nerve to say, “omg what is going on with you.” Like what??? There are a few good nursesmostly day shift. But, that pissed me off! Also the night shift will ask me if I have any questions. They will then say, “sorry I don’t know the answer to your question. I’ll pass it to day shift…”
Overall, very good experience. The quality of care for my daughter was top-notch. If I had any complaints, it would be that the security guard checking us in at Ocean six was incredibly rude. He was probably early 30s, dark hair. Didn’t catch the name. Really dark energy, And really super rude. As the first person that I interact with coming into a Children’s Hospital, which is already a stressful, generally serious situation, you guys should have somebody with excellent bedside manner. That dude was the opposite. Please consider firing him. Thank you that is all.
I was so impressed with the care provided to my son for his recent surgery. Before during and “almost” after. I’ll explain…Everyone from the security to the surgeon to the nurses or even non medical staff was top notch. Our favorite outside of our surgeon of course was our night nurse Clairese she was just wonderful and quite compassionate. The therapy staff was very helpful and provided additional stretches for aftercare. The ortho staff checked on us daily including our doctor and always provided great advice in a language that both my son and I could understand. Everyone just seemed very genuine and it made me feel extremely comfortable. Upon discharge we were told there was no rush to leave as the room would be empty for the remainder of the day. Since we had already placed his lunch order prior to knowing exactly when we would be up for discharge I asked if my son wanted to stay until after it arrived. We also completed a form a couple days prior for some additional resources and were waiting for them to come in between 12 and 2 per the time listed on the application. I informed the staff we were just waiting for those two things and would head out directly after. Once everything was all done I informed my 16 yr old I was going to take our belongings to the car and pick up his meds. Our nurse Hui was sweet enough to allow me to use a cart so I could take everything at once. I informed her I was going to stop at the pharmacy on the way. I dropped off our bags and popped back up to the pharmacy. Unfortunately they had trouble locating one of his medications so I text my son so he would understand why it was taking so long. After locating the medication and receiving counsel from the pharmacist, I headed back up to our floor. As I was approaching the room I saw an older blond nurse storming out of it. I had never seen her before so I wondered why she would be going in my sons room. When she came out she immediately walked up to the nurse station and said what is he doing in there so long to another nurse. The other nurse started saying well that’s because the mother…and stopped speaking when she saw me. I wondered if they were speaking of my son and I but acted as if I didn’t hear and quickly entered the room to see my son sitting waiting. I asked what the nurse wanted since we had never seen her before and he stated he would tell me later. After carefully getting him to the car and loading him in, he said he was ready to tell me what she said…apparently her tone was quite rude saying what are you doing in here? He said oh my mother is at the pharmacy she should be up soon. She then asks well what’s this wheelchair for? He said it’s for me I just had surgery, she then responded with well she’s been gone a really long time and just left the room. What her issue was I have no clue but she left a sour taste in my mouth after such a previously pleasant experience. I know he waited to tell me about it in the car because he knows I would have called her out on her bedside manner. I personally have been at the front desk for many years and speaking about patients and their parents all loud is for sure a no no. I wish I was able to get her name but if this is her typical personality I’m sure management will know exactly who she is when they read this. Forrest B floor 8. Please retrain whomever she was.
They need to hire more staff. Having zero openings between now and December for the doctor to review my child’s new meds is unacceptable. Only 2 openings during that time and both are after 3pm making it over 4 hours of driving combined. Still 2 star because other than that staff is kind.
My toddler had their first ever surgery recently and we had a great experience. Please utilize Child Life services — toys were given and kept them busy. The CLS also introduced the gas mask in a fun way that was tailored to my tot’s interests. No tears were shed. We were given a phone and was updated on our tot’s surgery. We also had the case # which was listed in different areas of the hospital. We ate in the cafeteria while keeping an eye out on our tot’s case. A smooth overall experience
