Why is it so hot in here all the time? Two different thermostats in the Fred Hutch Cancer Center area are reading in the high 70s and it's unbearable. It's only 63° outside. Why is this necessary?!?
No hospital is perfect but, I myself have been to Evergreen a few times and I personally think the staff is pretty good plus the Doctors and nurses. Making appointments are easy and they communicate very well. I did have an issues at UC, the wait time was crazy and the Doctor? was a jerk. Happens at times but, that was just one time. The clinic in Redmond, Town Center is run pretty well also. I'm not going anywhere else because I don't think anymore else is any better. My take..
Today my wife had a Diverticulitis attack .We took her to the Emergency room and were treated with kindness ,care and compassion. It was a scary situation but the Doctor was top notch . He also had a great bedside manor and wasted no time . He is the same Doctor who stitched up my wife's had several years back and our VIP doctor said he had never seen that good of a stitch. My wife also was seen by Dr Hanson when she had a 104 temp a few years ago and he also knew exactly what to do. I want to say especially thank you for the Doctor and the intake people and especially the RNs . I could go on and on . Eervergreen has been taking care of our family for many years and life happens but we are so thankful today . Top notch medical care .The focus here is on the patient. Cant thank you enough.
I don't think I've actually written such a negative review, but here goes..because this was really awful. Some clarification points: 1. I work in healthcare. 2. I have NEVER missed a medical appointment I made. The resources are spread too thin now, especially post covid. 3. I DOUBLE CHECKED the online instructions/directions the night before the appointment. I arrived at the facility before my appointment time. I was given incorrect directions when I arrived at the hospital, which is color coded into zones. I was sent to the wrong zone for my desired appointment, which I had waited for for a month, and was not able to recover and course correct with the correct directions until too late for my appointment to be honored. I was then informed that I could not reschedule my appointment, even after volunteering that I would pay a late arrival fee. Mind you, this was going to be a cash pay appointment for a travel medicine consult. I wonder if they really want to have people use this service if there are non existent instructions on the appointment for INTERNAL NAVIGATION WITHIN THE HOSPITAL, and INCORRECT INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN at hospital information portals. I have been to Evergreen before to take friends to appointments, and thought their system very confusing. Experiencing the facility operations and logistics first hand, I don't think I would voluntarily make an appointment in their facility again. I work and navigate in hospitals...it can be confusing, but this was crazy.
My dad recently had the privilege of receiving medical care at Evergreen Kirkland and I must say it was an extraordinary experience from start to finish. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere that instantly put me at ease. The staff at Evergreen deserves the highest praise for their exceptional professionalism and unwavering commitment to patient care. Every doctor, nurse, and support staff member I encountered demonstrated not only their extensive knowledge and expertise but also genuine compassion and empathy towards patients. Their ability to balance technical proficiency with a caring and human touch truly sets Evergreen apart.
The triage and nursing staff were exceptional. However, after coming in for excruciatingy pain that was debilitating , Dilaudid wouldn't even touch the pain, the ER doctor sent me home after 3 hours in a knee brace. Diagnosis.....acute knee pain. No acknowledgment of my blood work and flagged notes on multiple reports which indicated infection in the knee joint. He released me 3 hours after being there, and reviewed these reports with the flags 45 minutes before releasing me. Came back the next day via ambulance with a septic staph infection! Not sent home with pain meds, antibiotics and was told to follow up with my surgeon in 2 days. A week in the hospital, 7 weeks of IV antibiotics three times a day via a central line in the chest, and now switching over to heavy antibiotics for the next 3 months. In addition to this, weekly blood draws, infectious disease appointments, etc... My surgeon responded immediately to a call from family to him and met us at the hospital. He recognized the issue and performed emergency surgery when I came in the second time. He was even unsure why the ER doctor didn't contact him while I was there the first time. I'm blown away, as are many others who have heard this unfortunate scenario. I've missed 6 weeks of work! I can't even say that the hospital was busy that day and that's why they irresponsibly discharged me. There is literally no explanation for this negligence.....at the expense of my life and health.
They almost killed me when my twins were born by giving me an infection in my vein and they made me pay for the bills including the ultrasound that they used to try to say it was a blood clot. Five years later I find out I have invasive candida and it's been there since that hospital visit. They gave me antibiotics but not an antifungal. It has caused heart problems and stomach problems as well. One of the nurses neglected me so bad I heard her on the phone complaining about having to take care of me. She didn't know why I was there, even though I had preeclampsia. They were mean, neglectful, and harmful. They caused a ton of health issues. Their bathroom also was not clean and I got a plantar wart from showering in there. They also made it impossible for me to care for my newborns when I was admitted, even had the audacity to suggest someone else should do it when they were FOUR DAYS OLD. Twice they tried to take my babies from me thinking they would be better than their mother. They even accused me of starving my kids when they were the ones that made it hard for me to feed them. Never again.
I took my grandma to the emergency department on July 19th, she ended up being admitted to the hospital until the 22nd. My experiences are anecdotal but it wasn't a particularly busy day so my grandma was seen pretty quickly. While down in the ER she was seen by Dr Isackson and Dr Connor, both had a solid bedside manner and seemed extremely competent. The stars of this whole experience are the nurses though, because they spend more time with the patients they kind of color the experience more. I cannot remember the name of every nurse, or it never came up, but nurse David was extremely friendly and engaging. Apparently he's the IV king. There was an older nurse, I wish I had caught his name, but he really humored my old grandma quite a bit and that was a great way to keep her distracted while she had various procedures/tests going on. As the first day turned towards evening nurse Rio came into my grandma's room down in the ER. Like her colleagues, she was also super engaging, but she was also maybe the most on the ball nurse I've ever witnessed. She was like the John Wick of nursing. So quick, so efficient. My grandma was admitted to the hospital late in the evening and the room was super nice compared to what I remember of hospitals, but admittedly I haven't been in one for quite a while. The next day my grandma was cared for mainly by nurses Cathy and Kaela, and they were awesome too. They'd listen to my grandma say the same things over and over again and they were so kind to her. I'd almost say my grandma was actually having fun while staying there. I think nurse Kaela was running around saying "teehee" a lot too... could be mistaken, but whoever's teeheeing on 4th floor silver, it's a vibe. Throughout the day various people came in to draw blood, take food orders, bring in the food, and then there was an occupational therapist. Not a single person was anything less than professional, and everyone was super friendly.
Please avoid going to any Evergreen Health if you are planning to apply for their financial assistance program or if you think you might have to deal with their billing problem. Their whole billing system sucks. They do not coordinate with patients and their needs. They want the patients to go through with more stress and health issues dealing with them. Long call volumes and extremely unhelpful staff. I have called at least 50 times in 6 months to take care of this one application but the agents have no answers because they aren't the decision-makers and always leave it open-ended discussion. Avoid the trouble and go to Overlake Hospital instead...Overlake is way far better in its promptness and services. Some of the online schedulers were also very rude at Evergreen in the Bothell location in the past
You know a hospital is bad when they have to hang signs up everywhere touting how great they are. Bunch of cranky unhelpful people working here that all must hate their jobs? I went in for a mammogram with my 10 year old daughter with me. She was the only one in the waiting room and sat quietly reading a book in the corner while a receptionist felt the need to come out from behind the desk to rudely personally let me know that they were not responsible for her while I was in getting my breast exam. Yeah thanks, I wasn't asking you to babysit, she can take care of herself. And if you don't want my business, I'll go to Overlake instead. It wasn't worth the 4 month wait for a mammogram here to be so unkindly unwelcomed for an already difficult task.
