A very quiet park with very tall trees and grassy sites. The owner was very nice. Randle is a very small town with only a coffee shop and and ice cream shop. Stayed here one night in hopes of driving to Mount St. Helen's, however due to heavy snowfall the road was closed.
A old park off HWY 12. A nice owner. No mobile phone, no WIFI. Good for a one night stay.
Beautiful wooded RV park in the perfect location between Mt St Helens and Mt rainier. Quiet and private. My husband and I enjoyed our stay.
The long term full hookup sites here are the largest I have ever seen. They are each fenced in and have a storage shed. They views of the mountains and beautiful trees giving the name Shady Firs.
I did not have a reservation and I called and talked to the lady that ran it. She said they had room for a tent spot. Because there were extra RV spots she let me park in an RV spot and use electricity as well. Great RV stop. Great camping spot. Awesome facilities. Very quiet. I can’t see enough good about this campsite. If you have the chance passing through Randal, this is where you need to stay.
Lots of highway noise, as it is right on the highway, but it did become a bit quieter at night. The campground itself is very quiet and wasn't busy on the two midweek days we stayed there in late August. In fact there were only 6 other campers with two appearing to be permanent campers spread around the entire campground. It's a spacious campground, with water and electric. As the name implies, it IS very shady with large fir trees. No complaints other than there were only two small bathrooms which were both quite old, unkept and extremely dirty. Really unacceptable for use. They are also locked each day at 6:00 pm...and not unlocked until about 7:00 am. Strange! The camp hosts were not friendly and seemed uninterested in making any contact or giving any assistance. Also would take cash payment only.
Cash only basic park. Mostly for long-term residents that have let their units deteriorate from weather. About 14 miles from Packwood where there are some nice places to eat and visit as well as access to Mt Ranier NP. If we return, we will look for alternative places to stay.
Though the owner is a little rough, it's well worth staying at this cash only park. It's a great location between Ranier & Mt. St. Helen's. The sites are roomy and shady. The fir trees are beautiful. Thank you
My husband and I just spent 5 days here at Shady Firs and we had such an amazing experience. The owners were so friendly and helpful!! Cliff gave us fresh corn on the cob and squash that he had just picked from his garden. While we were grilling the squash some deer walked right in front of our site. The camp sites were quiet, spacious, and level. The whole park was grassy with plenty of shade, which was perfect for our 2 dogs. I would definitely recommend this park and will be visiting again!!
This is my home away from home. The owners always make me feel like family. Great place to hole up for a few days, or long-term. Easily accessible commodities, down the road from the local store. 20 minutes or less from the deep mountains. I would recommend this place with all my heart
