We have two rooms, 168 and 170. Sunday we checked in at 8am. They were able to hold our bags until we were able to get our room. We went to Concierge and was able to buy our universal studio tickets. Tram ride to the park was convenient but no ac in the bus. It was hot. ...coming back around 10pm we checked in again and obtained our keys. The staff were nice at check in desk. We arrived at 170 and it smells so bad , it was mold wet smell. Gross. The pool access was nice from both rooms right out the door. Room 168 the water bottles were open that says Concierge, towels had light yellow on the., water bottles would not stand up. Something was wrong with them. Shower nob fell off when I tried to take a shower. I definitely did not enjoy my stay in the room. I'm extremely disappointed. Damaged furniture, poor ac and air flow room would not get cold. Max we got the room down to is 71 degrees when set to 65. Room shower nob fell off and don't work as they should. Holes in walls, dirty floors.... Rooms: We have two rooms, 168 and 170. This is an excellent location for a visit to Universal Studios! You can easily walk to the park in about 10 minutes or take the shuttle. The food at the Californian is excellent, really delicious! The service at the hotel is exceptional. The pool is great and a great size! Lots to do in the evening as well. The rooms could use a good cleaning, there were stains on the walls and broken tiles in the bathroom. The rooms facing the pool with balconies are great, but don't choose them if you need to get to bed early, it is a lively time at the pool from 7-10, but if you are okay with that, they are great! This is a really nice hotel in need of a little face lift!
The best hotel experience that we've ever had! Customer service is amazing and the staff is so helpful. The pool is big and clean. Perfect for families! I have 3 children who absolutely loved the pool. Lots of families were there and it was very welcoming. The food and drinks at their restaurants were so good! Very tasty and even the kids enjoyed who are normally picky eaters. Music is always playing or they will have live performers. So fun! They also offer a shuttle that takes you to City Walk, which was so nice!! Made our universal trip that much better and easier with kiddos. My dad stayed at the Hilton and couldn't believe how much better and nicer the Sheraton was when he'd come visit. This will be our official hotel for our next universal trips. Totally recommend!!
This is a fantastic hotel. Location to Universal is very convenient. There are frequent shuttle buses, but you can also easily walk. Pool area is great, and the pool is clean. Breakfast very good too. Staff friendly and courteous. Housekeeping every day without the need to request it. No homeless encampments in the area.Rooms: 5/5
The staff and the location are the two best things about this property. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms are very clean but a bit dated. Rooms were a bit too small for our family of four. Elevators can take a long time and the shuttles are often full, so be prepared to wait a lot. If you can, walk to City Walk and Universal or else you will be waiting a long time for shuttles. Walk to Universal is about 7 minutes and definitely manageable.
This was my first stay at Sheraton Universal. I normally book the Hilton when I'm going to Universal Studios but the prices at Sheraton were cheaper. Check in was easy and pleasant. The room was fairly nice. The reason for the 4 stars is because of cleanliness. There was thick dust between the grooves of the wall and the showerhead did not work properly. If you have Platinum or higher status you are eligible to enter the lounge. Hours are of the lounge are 6-10am for breakfast and 6-10pm for dinner. For breakfast there was individual cereal, milk, fruit, eggs, potatoes, and bacon. I would say it was a continental breakfast and they even had pastries also. Dinner was a tomato pasta, brownies, hummus, pita bread, cheese, celery/carrots, and soda. It was similar to an Olive Garden type meal. I felt like I got a nice full plate for dinner and a quick snack for breakfast. Overall it was a pleasant stay and I'd book again.
We stayed at the Sheraton for 2 nights in August on our trip to Universal. We chose this hotel based on the location. When it comes to location - it was great. Close to the studios walking distance, but with a free shuttle available. However, the price was unnecessarily high and we wouldn’t choose it again. Would have been cheaper to stay further away and Uber in and out. Hotel was helpful, room was clean and comfortable. Hotel pool was closed during our visit and the bar was understaffed - though the employee was working incredibly hard to hold down the fort! Overall, there were a lot of pluses / just not sure it was worth the price. Nearby activities: Good location relative to universal studios
Room was not clean. Checked in after a day at Universal also drove in early that mrng from bay area just wanted a luggage cart to bring out our stuff up to room. They wouldn't give us one because they want to do it so you can pay for an extra service. The nickel and dime right off the bat was a huge turn off. On top of dirty shower, barely wiped down bath room. Yuck. Will never stay here again especially for the price we paid for a small room!
Friendly staff and excellent location if you are visiting Universal Hollywood. But the rooms are outdated and not clean. Had to ask for a room change because the first room was not cleaned hairs and stains in bedsheet/pillow/bathroom floors/sink. The new room was better than the first but still not the most clean. Elevators are slow and breakfast buffet was not worth it. Parking is on site for $40 a day.
My family and I stayed here in the beginning of July and it was awesome. The firework shows were great! With the package of Universal tickets the room viewed the minion. The ride to Universal park was less than 10 minutes and easy to get to. Staff was very nice and helpful, we enjoyed the pool and hot tub. We didn't eat at the restaurant but there's a pizza place on the other side of the freeway you can call and they will deliver or get back on the bus and eat at the city walk. The only sad part was my son lost one of his plants vs zombies plushies, but a great experience !
