Shoe Corner

I grew up in Dyer, and have always been aware of Shoe Corner. Hanging from the telephone poles, strewn about on the street, amassing in piles in the dead of night. Shoe Corner is a local landmark and has been adored by NWI residents for decades. When the shoes are cleaned up, they reappear the next morning. Shoe Corner reinforces the power of magic, the fascinating mystery of "why", and a testament to the permanence of history.

Do not waste your time. It is just a place where people litter by throwing old foot wear on the corner. It has been going for over 30 years. Strolling around your neighborhood on garbage day would provide entertainment.

The mystery and history of shoe corner is absolutely fabulous. I smile every time I drive past and see newly added shoes.

All my life, I have been puzzled regarding a great many things, but Shoe Corner will more than likely be one that will go un-resolved in it's origins. Some say, that there were shoes at the corner going back before the corner was corned! Shoes going back to the fossil record! The esteemed scientist, paleophysicist, and armchair psychopacifist, Wilson Grentt, theorized that the origin of the universe came from the empryrical definition of "what a corner truly is in it's most definitive and concentrated in accuracy and consensus" occured at the very spot Shoe Corner now sits. Grentt also theorized that the shoes are "pulled there by particles of gravity called "heeltrons" that usually dissipate after yanking the shoes off passerbys. All of this is hypothetical though, according to Grentt, who was last seen trying to scale the "Mountain" where now is Goodnow Grove using only Invert 550 Paracord and beach umbrellas for stakes.
