I want to thank Coventry Ace for delivering, setting up and carrying the XL Big Green Egg up the stairs onto the deck. Great customer service.
They have restrooms, but no, you can't use them. Never trust a place that wants your patronage to purchase its wares, but which won't allow you to deal with one of your most basic human needs. They don't sell anything you can't purchase 25% cheaper at Home Depot or Lowes, anyway.

My wife bought me a $500 griddle for Father's Day this year, which was delivered this July and always kept covered, and the top is starting to rust. She called this Ace location which is where she bought it and they said "call the manufacturer." I wish we had just bought it from the manufacturer and not given this Ace location our business. When the local store doesn't provide good customer service why not just buy everything from Amazon where the social aspect almost guarantees better service. Either way we will not be shopping at Ace Hardware at 633 Washington Street, Coventry RI ever again.
Friday evening, the crew had it together. I was greeted. I was offered help finding the item and same young man followed up to see if I found what I wanted. This is my 3rd time to this store. I use their website to check inventory before I go. Next visit, paint samples for kitchen. Good location.
Don't ever buy paint from this location. I purchased a gallon $75 and a quart $22 and needed to return the quart because I ended up not needing it. ALL paint at this location is not returnable. I totally understand if the paint was tinted, custom or opened but this was neither. Since every location is privately owned there's no top down return policy from Ace as each store sets their own policies. I spoke with other Ace stores in the area to see if they would accept the return and was told I had to return at the location it was purchased. I totally understand that response as they would be out the money for the return. The other location did actually try to work with me and said that if it was Ace branded they would haven taken it. By the way that location would have taken it back if I bought it from them. I expect to be treated as a number at big box stores but not at a locally owned store. The person who I spoke with wasn't necessarily rude but did give me the whole "it's on our sign" spiel and "there's nothing I can do for you" with a nice blank stare. Unfortunately I won't do business at any Ace hardware again with the uncertainty if I'll actually be able to return unused products. At a minimum this store should be notifying people specifically about this policy for something that's not returnable especially if it's a higher dollar item like this. Luckily I didn't buy more which was my original intention but the store didn't have any more than what I purchased. I would have been out over $100 if that was the case.

I called multiple stores looking for a pool pump. I found one an hour away from our house. I spoke to Rob who confirmed they had it. I specifically asked him to please hold it for me, I was on my way. I drove 50 minutes, my husband found Rob in the store and said “My wife called, you are holding a pool pump”. In an arrogant tone, Rob tells us that “he sold it to another person, it’s a popular item today.” I said “I don’t understand that, I asked you to hold it, told you I was on my way and you’re telling me someone came in within the last 50 minutes and bought it?” His response again very matter of fact, rude with zero customer satisfaction mentality “ya.”
I used to love this store as they seemed to have everything that I needed including hard to find items. It was my first over the big box stores. Today that changed. I called the store looking for a 2 wheel large wheel barrow . and was told that they had both plastic and steel tub models in stock and they were open until 4 PM. I immediately drove to the store and as the clerk at the counter where the wheel barrows as I just called. He told me they they don't have any. I inquired how can that be as I called 10 minutes ago he responded "I don't know" I asked him who answers the phone and he claimed he didn't know, but the voice sounded familiar. He then called next in line and left me standing there. I asked to speak to the person in charge, and someone came forward from the back of the store. I explained what transpired and he said ok. I said that's it? He said that he would speak to his employee and walked away. I would have thought an apology is in order and some token to come back coupon etc. For me it's back to the big box store as at least they are courteous, polite, own up to errors and offer to make things right. It is really sad as I used to like this store but with multiple employees providing substandard customer service it demonstrates a lack of leadership and accountability.
As a new homeowner in the neighborhood, I’ve been going out of my way to go to this store even though I pass Home Depot on my way! I’ve purchased multiple things from here including a really nice grill to try and give less to big box stores. Unfortunately I haven’t felt that “neighborhood friendly” feeling when I go to this store although I feel I’ve given it many chances. My last time there I didn’t realize they close at 4pm on Sundays and went in at 3:50 for a sample of paint to touch up what I’d already painted in my home having purchased all of my paint at this store recently. I asked at the register if someone could make me a quick sample. They looked at the clock and said “unfortunately no.” I was only one of two customers in the store and they did not seem busy. I grabbed the sample card of paint I needed and took it to Home Depot on my way home. Sorry guys, you’ve lost my business. Update: The Home Depot employees were extremely friendly and I was able to get what I needed with a pleasant experience.
