My granddaughter lives in this residence hall. She has given me a tour of it and I believe it’s great.!.
Overall, the dorm is great. It is close to hillenbrand and Earhart dining courts and not to far from Wiley. The downside is the boys bathrooms. They were not remodeled like the girls side, so they are very old... And even pour rusty bits out sometimes.
The dorm rooms are pretty big compared to some of the other residence halls at Purdue. It has air conditioning which is really nice. It's pretty clean and the laundry room has a lot of units and an app to tell you when a machine is open. The lobby area is really nice and you can study with others there
Coming back to Purdue is a really great experience. Even during these times Purdue really has their act together and they're really moving kids around smoothly and getting them moved in very easily. I'm glad we participated in boiler gold rush so we could get here ahead of the big crowds.
Lived here for a year- great people, minimal drama. The showers aren't great but for sure better than others and the cleaning staff are wonderful. Of course, they're freshman dorms so small, but you make the most of it. Lots of learning communities are there, so you live with people who have similar interests if you choose to go that route
It is decidedly a freshman dorm, but it is an excellent freshman dorm. Plenty of study spaces, clean shared bathrooms, friendly staff, positive atmosphere. The elevators can be a little sketchy, but at that point you're just nit-picking for things to not like about it. Shout out to Nathan Glotzbach.
My daughters both stayed at Shreve their freshman years at Purdue and the main attraction for them was, "it's air conditioned and each room has it's own thermostat".. LOL... This is a nice residence hall located right across the street from the firehouse on 3rd St. Made many a trip there and on move in day, they have it pretty darn organized.. Nice study area in the lobby for students and not far from a great food court..! "Boiler Up"...!
Very nicely done. Easy access as a wheelchair user. Not sure if it has multiple access points. But. It was very easy to get into. Please consider saving money on insurance and start replacing steps with ramps. Less tripping and falling equals less injuries means students not missing classes. Nor as many annoying lawsuits for bad injuries. Consider 2020 the ADA goes from passive as in waist for people to file complaints. To actively going out and seeking any and all violations.
I stayed there my first two years at Purdue. Fun times. Didn’t have A/C back then, 1989-1991. We didn’t seem to care! Good memories.
Rooms had personally controlled a/c, shared restrooms were clean, and rooms were large. But still an older residence hall with traditional style dorms.
