To reserve a campsite: realize that Recreation.gov will sometimes show the camp is full when it isn't, or say that the website isn't available. If you wish to reserve a camp site CALL them Toll Free 1-877-444-6777, and if they tell you no sites are available, CALL direct Tahoe National Forest Nevada City office (530) 265-4531 or Camptonville Station (530) 288-3231. Yes, there are some walk-in campsites set aside, no reservations needed! The Forest folks can help you. Skillman Horse Camp opens for the season on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Established and maintained by the Gold Country Trails Council and managed by the Tahoe National Forest.
