Sleep Inn University Place

Staff was amazing. Welcoming you upon arrival and quickly getting you into your room. I arrived well before standard check in time but the desk agent got me in anyway with a minimal wait. My room was clean and exactly what I paid for. I wanted something nice on a budget and it is exactly what I got. The bathroom was a little small and yes the door was unusual but the money I saved VS. staying at another pricey hotel was great considering all the things there are to do in the area. I would absolutely stay again.

The best location when looking for things to do in Charlotte. The staff was friendly and went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. You do not find that type of customer service elsewhere these days. The AGM was so sweet, arranged a cab for me and even printed me a list of interesting things to do in the area that were either free or close to it. I will definitely visit this specific Sleep Inn each time I return to the area, which is very often. No it is not a Hilton but even in a Hilton you can not get that type of service. UNSAFE, DIRTY, AGGRESSIVE STAFF, VIOLATORS OF PRIVACY. Lets their employees go around creating hostile environments for their guests. Workers will slam into your room so hard that the door lock is pointless to have for “safety”. Rude and aggressive. If I could give negative 5 stars I would. Management also made sure to let me know there was no privacy in the hotel. She stated that there are cameras and microphones/recording devices in every part of the hotel. Rooms, halls, etc. be safe y’all there’s no telling what kind of videos they are keeping of guests and doing who knows what with those videos.

The manager at this place is one of the rudest individuals I have ever met. If it weren't for the fact that it was tough to get a room anywhere else, I would have cancelled the reservation and left. It was 3PM and the manager claimed there were no rooms ready. I questioned her about that since the cleaning staff was outside smoking. The manager got very rude and defensive. Luckily another staff person took over and made sure I got my room, which was ready, despite the manager saying it was not ready.

I booked this hotel because it had a pool and was priced at a reasonable rate. When arriving to the hotel, the pool was closed. Went to the room, smelled like old smoke. The closet door was broken and there was leftover Bojangles in the draw beside the bed. I was not happy about this hotel. Very let down. Then on top of that the staff was rude, no smiles and not welcoming to the hotel. Very let down by this experience. I will not be going back.

That hotel used to be a "smoking" hotel on the upper floors. The smell never left. It smells horrible. You can sense it the minute you walk into the hotel. It's a shame because the rooms are nice, just don't take your kids there, and bring a mask.Rooms: 1/5

Just checked in for a quick stop. We'll be leaving as soon as the sun comes up. This hotel is filthy. The beds were made, but the walls, shower, and floor are gross. I found three dead bugs, and I'm praying to God they arent bedbugs, but I'm pretty sure they are. I wish I could post pictures of the room on here. Seriously, avoid this place. $90/night and a $200 deposit "in case something gets broken" is a joke for this type of hotel. I understand this is a two-star hotel, and my expectations matched that when we checked in. I am incredibly disgusted at this condition though. Noteworthy details: Dirty
